About me
I am Alice Boyd, an accredited NCPS registered psychotherapeutic counsellor, working with adults facing varying difficulties in life, from a diverse range of social and cultural backgrounds.
I offer client-led pluralistic counselling. What does this mean? Put simply, every individual is unique and as such we all have different needs. You are the expert in what works for you. Together we can draw on a range of therapeutic methods to help you reach your full potential. Flexibility depending on individual needs is key in my therapeutic approach.
Clients have been able to make positive changes in their life as well as feeling that their confidence and self-esteem has grown in the process.
My role is to provide you with the space you deserve to speak openly and honestly without fear of judgment. To actively listen to you and be fully present in the moment. I will share my knowledge and experience and gently challenge you to perhaps look at things differently when you are feeling ‘stuck’.
You can expect warmth, friendliness, empathy and openness to whatever you bring to our counselling sessions. My aim is to always create a supportive, creative and hopeful environment in our work together.
I look forward to meeting you!

Additional information
I offer a free initial consultation either over the telephone or online. It is vital that you feel that your counsellor is the right fit for you, this initial call not only helps me to understand the areas you wish to work through but allows you to get a sense of whether you would feel comfortable working with me.
Counselling sessions are charged at £45 per hour. I offer counselling either short term (6-8 sessions) or longer term. Sessions tend to be either weekly or fortnightly, whatever works for you.
I work with clients over the telephone and online as well as face to face counselling from a therapy suite in Derwentside. I am also happy to provide ‘walk and talk’ therapy sessions in the peaceful environment of the Derwent Valley.
