About me

I am a  BACP Senior Accredited integrative counsellor with over 15 years experience of working with clients. I have worked for over 5 years as a lead counsellor in GP surgeries,  in a long term counselling service and over 4 years in a specialist trauma service and have been working in private practice for over 13 years. I work in-person with adults and young people aged 16 and over.

About half my work is in general counselling with issues such as anxiety in various forms such as health and social anxiety, panic disorder and low self-esteem.  I also work with depression, bereavement and family and relationship problems including divorce, separation or affairs.  I work with workplace issues including work related stress, bullying and harassment.

The other half of my work is with trauma, supporting survivors of childhood physical, sexual and emotional abuse, and those who have experienced domestic abuse or sexual violence at any age. I have had considerable additional training in these areas. I have worked successfully with most trauma related conditions, including post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) ,Complex PTSD (CPTSD) and most of the dissociative conditions, (including allied conditions such as FND and NES), up to and including DID.

I value all clients equally regardless of whether you require counselling for general issues or for trauma and I believe in providing an environment in which you will feel comfortable to explore whatever is currently causing you concern. If you have any particular questions about the therapy I offer then please feel free to call me on my dedicated counselling mobile.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
