About me

Looking for someone to work alongside you to navigate through your difficulties?  You’re here!  Please don’t under-estimate what you’ve already done in managing things for yourself this far.

I believe the counselling relationship is very special. It provides a space that's yours where you can explore and express your inner thoughts and feelings in confidence and safety. It's a place you can obtain a different perspective and increase your self-awareness. By becoming more aware, you increase your choices, thus providing more opportunity for change.

I understand and value highly the support that counselling provides, particularly at a time when it feels as though you are struggling alone with few options.  Experience of my own journey is what brought me to train as a therapist. I continue to treasure the relationship as one that nurtures and promotes personal growth.

I’ve had my private practice since 2008 and have also worked on behalf of organisations which include:

NHS,  Bupa, Health Assured, Aviva, Victim Support, Place2be, Youth Concern Trust, Hertfordshire County Council, Workplace Options

I can offer Face-to-face, Skype/Zoom video, telephone or email sessions.

I have a very comfortable therapy room, centrally based in Cheshunt, about 20 minutes’ walk from the train station with good bus links and plenty of parking.

Initially, we have an assessment which will enable us to get to know each other a little, for you to talk about what is troubling you and decide if we can work together.

I provide both short and long- term counselling for children, young people and adults.

For children and young people, assessments are carried out with parents/carers with regular reviews, but weekly sessions are held with the child or young person alone.

As an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, I am bound by their Code of Ethics.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

If a counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.
