About me
I understand it may have taken a great deal of courage for you to arrive at my profile. You are warmly welcomed. I believe the counselling relationship is very special. It provides a space that's yours where you can explore and express your inner thoughts and feelings in confidence and safety. It's a place you can obtain a different perspective and increase your self-awareness. By becoming more aware, you increase your choices, thus providing more opportunity for change.
I understand and value highly the support that counselling provides, particularly at a time when it feels as though you are struggling alone with few options. Experience of my own journey is what brought me to train as a therapist. I continue to treasure the relationship as one that nurtures and promotes personal growth.
I’ve had my private practice since 2008 and during this time have also worked with Hertfordshire County Council, Place2be and Young Concern Trust providing counselling in schools. I have also worked with the NHS providing counselling to adults in GP surgeries.
I am also an affiliate counsellor providing services through Bupa, AXA, Aviva, Health Assured, Sparta, Victim Support, Workplace Options, and Care First.
I can offer Face-to-face, MS Teams/Skype/FaceTime/WhatsApp video or telephone sessions.
I have a very comfortable therapy room (located up one flight of stairs), centrally based in Cheshunt. There is normally plenty of parking.
Initially, we can arrange a free 15 minute phone call as an introduction and if you decide to book, we'll have an assessment session which will enable us to get to know each other a little, for you to talk about what is troubling you and decide if we can work together. You can submit an enquiry here.
I provide both short and longer- term counselling for adults and young people (11-18yrs).
I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and am bound by their Code of Ethics.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
