About me

Your life may be stressful and overwhelming at times or you can feel isolated and lonely. Counselling helps you to off load and work through issues that affect your life in a diverse or detrimental way and therefore facilitates a process towards 'being able to be Yourself.

I have chosen the following quote as it emphasizes that we cannot always be ourselves.
“If you allow yourself to be the person you are then everything will come into rhythm“.                                                                                         John Donohue

I am a Registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
I am educated to University Degree Level within the disciplines of psychology and counselling.
I am a qualified and experienced senior counsellor.

I do respect every client as an individual and the issues and problems you may bring will be completely different from anyone else and therefore the counselling has to be right for you.
I offer different approaches of counselling  to meet clients specific needs for instance:
Short term solution focused counselling which is suitable for clients who seek resolution with particular, often here and now issues.
Medium or long term counselling that offers in-depth work that facilitates the process of making sense with issues in the present or from the past.

Counselling provides a confidential space for instance to explore, examine or make sense of life experiences; find closure to past events or unresolved issues. It also provides the process where you can gain clarity if there is uncertainty or confusion and to find a sense of direction for the future.

In addition I offer personal self-development sessions for private clients and counsellors. Self-development provides the space to understand yourself in a deep and meaningful way.
Whatever your needs are - I will always strive to keep you safe in a supportive and confidential environment.

My approach is integrative which means that I draw from different approaches of counselling I am qualified in or have training with. My work is underpinned by Person Centred counselling that promotes empathy and unconditional acceptance for the client and the Psycho Dynamic traditions that helps to explore issues and emotions from the past or that might be hidden in the clients unconscious.
My philosophy is that every person is unique and an individual and has the right to be treated with respect and dignity. Counselling therefore will be individually tailored to a clients needs.

I am committed to work in a confidential, ethical and therefore sensitive ,non-judgemental and non-discriminatory way that encompasses issues that are of racial and cultural diversity, sexual differences, Gender and religious issues. I am experienced working with individual clients, male and female and couples encompassing heterosexual, bi-sexual, non-heterosexual and trans -sexual orientation.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
