About me

I am an experienced counselling psychologist, registered with the HCPC and The British Psychological Society.

I have worked in counselling for over 15 years, with experience in the NHS, The Cogwheel Trust counselling service and in private practice. My clients range from young adults to those in late adulthood, and come to me for help with a broad range of concerns including anxiety, depression and relationship issues. A full list of the issues I can help with is given below.

People seek therapy for all sorts of reasons. Taking the first step and opening up can be a challenge. Trust is central to this process and I believe that the key to successful counselling lies in the relationship between the therapist and the counsellor.

I am happy to offer counselling sessions online, via Zoom or in person at my counselling room.

How I work

I draw on ideas from a number of different counselling approaches including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), person-centred therapy and psychodynamic theory. This allows me to be flexible and to work in a way that fits your individual needs and circumstances.

In counselling sessions I aim to provide a confidential and non-judgemental environment so that my client feels safe and confident to explore the difficult issues in their life. We work together to develop a greater understanding of unhelpful patterns of behaviour and ways of thinking, and to develop strategies and skills to move forward.

At your initial appointment we will review your concerns and your hopes for counselling. It is an opportunity for me to get to know your reasons for seeking therapy and for you to understand how I can help. If you feel comfortable working with me, we can then arrange further sessions.
