Plymouth Chiropractic Clinic

Hello, I'm Lucy, a Counsellor working in the Plymouth area.
I understand that there are many things that can lead you to seeking support through counselling and sometimes it can be difficult to chose a counsellor. With this in mind, I provide a gentle first session; a chance for you to see if you feel comfortable with me and a chance for me to provide you with information about counselling and how I work.
After this session I will give you time and space to decide if you'd like to continue with me. If you feel comfortable to continue, I will provide you with a counselling service which fits with your needs and expectations.
Perhaps you feel you would like to have some short term work? I am experienced in working with clients over 6-8 weeks to explore and improve issues such as anxiety, stress as well as overcoming life's difficulties.
It could be that you would like longer term support, I'm also experienced in delivering a psychotherapeutic service to address this need. Longer term work can be a helpful way of understanding and overcoming problems such as depression and can be a excellent gateway into greater self awareness and self esteem.
What ever you decide, I will work in collaboration with you, listening carefully and helping you on your journey to positive change.
I very much look forward to hearing from you via text, email or phone.

Other areas of counselling I deal with
I work using the pluralistic approach which recognises that there are many contributing factors to why we seek therapy and many different ways to facilitate change. Recognising this expands the potential to make positive change by the absence of constraints to any one therapeutic mode or integration model.
That said, I keep the foundations of my therapeutic work within the person centred approach and I am by nature a very analytical thinker. These elements combine and naturally influence the way I work.

“I felt like Lucy really tried to get to know me as a whole person even in the short time that we had, she tried to understand my problems and also the things that I feel good about. Whilst talking to her I felt like the problems I am having are important and valid which was great because it is easy to tell yourself otherwise. It was so good to find someone that I could feel comfortable explaining exactly how I felt, she gave me time to think and helped me when I found it difficult to understand my thoughts. Seeing Lucy has given me hope that I can do something about my anxieties and beginning to understand them has made me feel much calmer starting university”.
"Working with Lucy helped me not only with everything I went to talk about originally but with other matters and issues I didn't realise I needed to look into, talk about and explore”.
"I had never attended counselling before but I have found these therapy sessions so helpful and would not hesitate to recommend Lucy to others".
"My Counsellor, Lucy was very kind and supportive, not judgmental in any way. I felt she cared about my wellbeing, I wish I could have seen her years ago. Thank you - you saved me in 2015"
"As I live alone, far from my family, I needed someone to talk to. Having someone who I can share my feelings, thoughts and behaviors with, who has no self intent, has been incredibly helpful. Lucy is non-judgmental and empathetic and allowed me to be totally honest, not thinking about someone's reactions, as I would with a friend or family member. I would definitely recommend Lucy as a counsellor".
