About me

I am a psychotherapist and counsellor with many years of experience, providing open-ended counselling and therapy to individuals and couples just outside Warminster in Wiltshire. I offer a safe and welcoming environment where we can explore together, in confidence, the issues or challenges you are experiencing.

What can counselling offer?

There are times when aspects of our lives can feel overwhelming, our emotional responses intolerable, or our relationships off-kilter, bland, inauthentic or repetitively confrontational. Counselling and therapy can offer help and support with current and/or longer-term problems, with issues such as behavioural patterns and relationship difficulties, life events such as loss or ill-health, work situations or questions about identity or sexuality. Within a sensitive, non-judgemental therapeutic relationship, individual therapy can help you gain insight and understanding, connect more fully with your sense of who you are, and feel empowered to make your own choices and decisions. Couples therapy can offer a space in which to explore communication from a place of fearless honesty, and of connection with one another in new, mutually empathic ways.

My therapeutic approach

My relational integrative approach means that I am trained in a range of theoretical and therapeutic disciplines, offering scope for creative expression and discovery. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is the foundation stone for exploration and understanding and can be a means to nurturing or re-establishing each individual’s sense of their intrinsic value and potential.  I  might include mindfulness alongside therapies that focus on the impact of past events and relationships on our sense of self and our behaviours, or on present moment sensory and somatic experiences.  I encourage couples to engage with one another openly and directly, communicating and being listened to with authenticity and sincerity.

Where I work

My practice is in Upton Lovell, a small village outside Warminster just off the A36 towards Codford and Salisbury.  It is a 4 minute walk from the 56 Warminster-Salisbury bus route, or there is parking outside the house if you are travelling by car.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from The Minster Centre and a Masters Degree in Integrative Psychotherapy, accredited by Middlesex University.  I have worked as an in-house counsellor for two London universities, counselling young artists and students training in the performing arts.

I have completed further psychotherapy training with Ruella Frank and am a qualified Developmental Somatic Psychotherapy practitioner.  I am also qualified to work with couples having trained in relationship therapy with David Slattery.  I have extended this training to work with other 'paired' couples, for example family and friend relationships.

I hold CPD Certificates in Eating Disorders and am committed to ongoing professional development.

I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and my work abides by their Ethical Framework for Good Practice.

I am able to work as a lip-speaker for those with hearing loss.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
