About us

121 Youth Counselling is a charity that offers 50 minute weekly sessions of  counselling to young people age 11-25 years of age.  Counselling is free to the young person and is completely confidential. Counselling is open ended so young people receive counselling for as long as they need it with the same counsellor every week. We currently have more places available for 17-25 year olds, therefore there is a long waiting list for the 11-16 year olds.

Each client has an initial assessment before they are placed with a counsellor to ensure that they are given the most appropriate counsellor for their needs. All counsellors receive group supervision and are fully supported in their role. 121 itself and all 121 Counsellors are BACP members and as such we adhere to the ethical guidelines and codes of practice of BACP.

We counsel young people with issues like: anxiety, depression, stress, phobias, self harming, suicidal thoughts and feelings, being bullied, post-traumatic stress, bereavement, young carers, etc.

Training, qualifications & experience

All counsellors working with young people under the age of 16 are a minimum of level 4 qualified and either accredited or working towards accreditation with experience of working with young people either as a counsellor or in some other professional capacity.

Counsellors working with young people age 17-25 are a minimum of level 3 working towards there level 4 qualification. Those who are student counsellors have a Mentor in addition to Group Supervisor.

We have a physical disability specialist counsellor for the 17-25 year age group who is herself wheelchair based. We can work with young people with communication difficulties.

Fees

The service free of charge to the clients although we welcome donations as it costs us approximately £35 per session to run.

Further information

We cover the whole of Hart and can take some young people from the surrounding areas. To make access as easy as possible, we use the premises of other organisations in the local community. We currently have four venues located in Fleet, Hartley Wintney, Odiham and Yateley.  All venues have disabled access and facilities. Most have free parking.

Priority for the early evening appointments 3pm - 6.30pm is given to those in school and college. The latest appointment is at 8pm.
