About me

Psychotherapy in Clapham and London Bridge

Does life feel like its getting on top of you?
Are you anxious about what the future holds?
Are you experiencing depression or have low energy and enthusiasm?
Are you encountering issues with addictive behaviour?
Could you benefit from a place to take some time-out and engage in psychotherapy?

... to explore your thoughts and feelings
... to get back on a front foot again

I'm Dan and I am a practising psychotherapist in Clapham and London Bridge. I am committed to providing counselling psychotherapy in a warm, confidential and non-judgemental environment, providing you with an opportunity to explore your feelings about life and ways in which you can find it to be more meaningful. I work with both individuals and couples on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period, with the aim of enabling you to enhance your life and to live it with more inner-peace and emotional resilience.

I am an experienced psychotherapist, helping clients who have experienced difficulties with:

  • Addiction(s)
  • Depression and anxiety
  • Eating disorders (anorexia and bulimia, over-eating)
  • Anger
  • Relationships
  • Stress
  • Panic attacks
  • Bereavement

My psychotherapy practice in south London is within easy reach of Clapham, Balham, Brixton, Streatham and Wandsworth and I am also within easy reach of most central London locations, in London Bridge.

Although trained as an Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, my offering is based upon the belief that more important than the theoretical orientation of the therapist is the development of a counselling relationship based upon mutual trust and empathy - which provides the space and opportunity for meaningful progress to be made.

I help people from all walks of life and understand through my own journey of healing that life can be very challenging at times with incidents occurring which seem out of our control. My own childhood was emotionally challenging and I suffered with undiagnosed childhood depression through events that were completely out of my control that have impacted me in adult life. Having faced these issues and transformed them into tools for developing my own emotional resilience I am known to be very empathic and well versed in helping others overcome their own limitations and traumas and improve their psychological well-being. I also have a background in coaching for eating disorders, holistic health and lifestyle change and when appropriate integrate these tools with counselling to help clients make changes to their overall health and well-being

Often when people come to counselling they present an issue or the reason why they feel counselling is needed to support them at this time in their life. As these issues are worked through and explored as therapy progresses, it often becomes apparent that there are other issues under the surface that come into awareness. Counselling can help you to uncover that which is below the level of consciousness and give you deeper insight and understanding so that your thoughts, feelings, past traumas, experiences and actions can be reflected upon. The purpose of this is to see how the past may be affecting us in the here and now so that transformation can be made - as opposed to solely trying to diagnose or identify a particular reason as to why life has turned out in unexpected ways. In this way reflecting upon the past can be very meaningful and provide the impetus for change.

I help people to reflect upon existential life concerns and how we find strategies to cope with these which can shed light on many aspects of our behaviour. There are times when we all feel lonely or isolated, lacking purpose, or caught up in feelings about the direction of our life or reminded of our mortality with the loss of loved ones. Counselling is a space to be yourself and explore your life in purposeful ways which is a unique opportunity to add richness and meaning to your life.
