Barbara Hales | |
Counsellor ProfileBarbara Hales has been counselling since 1985 in voluntary agencies and private practice in London and Devon. She has also been the Personal Development Tutor on an M.Sc. course for healthcare professionals.
Barbara regards therapy as a journey, which may be short or longer term, with the therapist as guide and companion to help people know themselves better.
She can help you explore current life-issues or concerns, repeating patterns and past relationships which may be continuing to affect you.
She believes that a counselling relationship of trust and respect, in confidence, can enable you to gain a new perspective on your situation, to make choices, and hence changes, in your life.
Barbara has wide experience in the attentive listening involved in traditional counselling. Where appropriate, she can also offer other ways of working: using stories, dreams, drawings, or through a series of arrangements created in a sand-tray.
Barbara has trained as a supervisor for counsellors, and is able to offer creative consultation for them and other professionals. She is enthusiastic about providing a quiet space for individuals in isolated positions of responsibility, including medical professionals, clergy and headteachers, where they can explore issues with someone outside the situations , in complete confidence.
Barbara also runs small workshops as a 'taster' experience of creative therapy.
She offers opportunities for people going through life-changes, such as retirement, to re-assess, re-balance and re-vitalise their lives.
