Supervision details

Counselling supervision

At Relational Counselling we provide Counselling supervision for qualified and student counsellors. Supervision with us provides a range of benefits for counsellors and their clients. The supervision provided will support you in the following:

Professional Development: Supervision can help counsellors develop their skills and competencies. Supervisors can provide feedback on counselling techniques, offer guidance on working with specific populations, and assist with professional goal-setting.

Self-Reflection: Supervision can provide a space for counsellors to reflect on their own biases, values, and beliefs that may affect their work with clients. Supervisors can help counsellors identify blind spots and encourage self-awareness.

Support: Counselling can be emotionally taxing work, and supervision can provide a supportive space for counsellors to process their own feelings and reactions to their work. Supervisors can also offer guidance on managing stress and preventing burnout.

Ethical Guidance: Supervisors can help counsellors navigate ethical dilemmas and adhere to ethical standards in their practice.

Accountability: Supervision provides a level of accountability for counsellors, ensuring they are providing high-quality care and adhering to professional standards.

Counselling supervision is an essential component of professional development and ethical practice in counselling. It provides a supportive and reflective space for counsellors to grow and develop their skills, while ensuring that they are providing ethical and effective care to their clients.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
