Supervision details
I am a qualified therapeutic counselling supervisor. I have been a qualified counsellor for 18 years. I am an Accredited registered member of the BACP. I have a CPCAB Level 6 Certificate in Therapeutic Counselling Supervision. I am a Person-Centred Counsellor, a Gestalt therapist and an EMDR therapist, I have a masters degree in Counselling Studies, a Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling and an Advanced Diploma in Gestalt Therapy. I offer supervision sessions either face to face or online.
I worked as a family counsellor in a local children’s hospice for 13+ years where I worked with clients of all age groups including children and young people and I worked with couples. During my time working at the hospice as well as counselling clients, I also supervised members of staff including nurses and other heath care professionals, I also facilitated bereavement groups and provided counselling skills training and other bespoke training to members of staff.
As a therapist I have vast experience of working with all sorts of presenting issues and also working with all age groups. Due to the length of time I worked at the hospice I have rather specialised experience of working with bereavement and loss particularly working with bereavement after the death of a baby or a child or young person under the age of 25 and I also have many years experience of working with clients bereaved through sudden and traumatic circumstances, such as suicide, murder, road traffic accidents and accidental death.
As a counselling supervisor I offer you a collaborative working relationship where you can feel fully supported in your demanding work as a therapist, where not only are your clients central to our work together but also your ongoing professional growth and development as a practitioner. As a supervisor I have experience of supervising counsellors and psychotherapists who work in private practice and who work in a variety of different organisations. I also have experience of supervising counsellors who work with all age groups including children and young people.
I have a counselling supervision room on the outskirts of Oswestry town centre (parking is available). My supervision service is available to counsellors online via zoom, I currently have supervisees from all over the UK and feel very comfortable providing supervision sessions online.
I am happy to offer you a free half hour introduction meeting either face to face or online whichever way works best for you, this introduction time will give us the opportunity to meet and discuss the supervision you require for your role as a practitioner and it will also give you the opportunity to ask me any questions about my supervision service. Please feel able to contact me today to arrange an introduction meeting.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
