  • >Supervisor Catherine Winchester MBACP (Accredited) Psychodynamic Therapy and Supervision

I offer clinical supervision to individuals and small groups in Henley-on-Thames.  My experience includes supervising trainee counsellors on diploma, undergraduate, masters and doctoral programmes, as well as qualified, experienced counsellors and psychotherapists.

The Terapia Diploma in Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychotherapy and Counselling Supervision is a rigorous, demanding, experiential course which fulfils the requirements of both the UKPC and BACP for supervisor training and complies with British Association for Play Therapists (BAPT) guidelines for individual and group supervision training.

I am also a member of PTUK (Play Therapy UK), as an Approved Supervisor for PTUK members.

My core modality is psychodynamic and I have also worked with counsellors who work integratively, or using existential, person-centred or solution-focused approaches with adults and young people.  My supervision training at Terapia prepared me to supervise clinicians working with adults, adolescents and children, in a range of modalities and using creative methods such as drawing and play therapy (also useful as tools in supervision!).

My experience as a school counsellor and as Clinical Manager for a Young People's Counselling Service provides an excellent basis for supervising anyone working in a school or with school-age people.  This may also include people working in roles where they are holding confidential information, often of a difficult, highly emotional kind - such as safeguarding or child protection officers, school pastoral tutors and social workers.

Fees:  Individual supervision: £50 (1 hour, weekly or fortnightly) or £75 (an hour and a half, monthly)
Group supervision:  by negotiation.

If a counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
