Supervision details

I have been supervising counsellors since 2008 and high intensity CBT therapists since 2009.  I completed a supervision course in bereavement with Cruse in 2006 and a HI CBT supervision course at Teesside University 2010 and I have supervised trainees on HI CBT courses.  My work experience includes working with students aged 16 and over in colleges, adults in primary care and private practice using CBT, EMDR and counselling.  I currently work in private health care and private practice. As a supervisor, I am supportive and reassuring to facilitate supervisees reflection on practice.  I abide by the ethical framework of BABCP and BACP.  I am focused on growth and improvement of practice and will suggest reading material/workshops as regular CPD is important for development.  I adapt my supervision to the stage the supervisee is at in their professional development as therapists supervision needs change as they progress.

BABCP
British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP)

The BABCP is the lead organisation for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in the UK. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the practice, theory or development of CBT. BABCP also provides accreditation for CBT therapists. BABCP accredited members adhere to the Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics in the Practice of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies, and are willing to be scrutinised in this adherence as required.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Premises are not suitable for wheelchair users. My clinic is up one flight of stairs. There is possibility of a downstairs room but this is not regularly available so appointment times would be to suit the room availability if this was needed.
