Supervision details

My specialisms are three-fold. Firstly, working online, secondly, working with neurodivergent adults, for example, ADHD, Autism, etc,  (whether officially diagnosed or not).

Due to being autistic myself (and with ADHD) I have lived experience of the relevant differences, and this supports and adds extra meaning to the specialist trainings I have completed in these subjects.  I have been seeing clients as a therapist myself for 24 years. And have been supervising other psychotherapists and counsellors for a year.  I'm a certified Transactional Analyst (CTA), a Certified CyberTherapist, and a UKCP registered Psychotherapist. I provide online supervision using Zoom .  Availability is from 08:45 am to  9 pm weekdays. I can support you in your professional development to do with any of the following three areas:  the actual client work, your academic progression, working professionally online in a safe, legal, ethical and effective way.

Supervision can deepen your knowledge and perspectives of client work at any stage of your journey as a therapeutic professional. We work together and we can explore themes and issues in client sessions, as well as revisit psychological theory and cover competencies as is relevant to you wherever you are in your work at the time.  Sharing challenges and issues arising in your client work can develop awareness about the processes and strategies that your client uses. And you may want to focus on how to think about this theoretically and then integrate that theory into practice.  We can sometimes explore your own feelings in response to clients (the countertransference).   Understanding your own responses, or the dynamic between you, can illuminate areas of benefit for your work with your client's journey.  For couples work, we can explore together how the couple that you are seeing is interacting. We may discover ways that they interact that are taking them away from what they seek, and we can discover new ways to facilitate them to communicate, in order to move towards connecting or being understood. Couples can be of any gender and any type of arrangement, married, cohabitating, casual, poly, friends, or colleagues.  You may also want insights into neurodiverse clients, and/or you may be a neurodivergent therapist yourself.  So, going beyond a traditional therapeutic interpretation, we can discuss the other things that can potentially be happening for a client. For example, the relevance of differences of the ways that the client may process things in themselves, others or their environment, and what impact that has (interoception, sensory challenges, executive function, etc). For your academic progression, you may be working towards an exam or accreditation with a professional body and may find it useful to have practical help with the completion of academic work. We can address this in our supervision sessions. Moreover,  if you are working online, or thinking of doing so, we could potentially also discuss issues of safety, legality, and ethics, as well as those of creativity and effectiveness when working at a distance and/or via technology. We can follow competency guidelines of BACP, ACTO, UKCP or any other organisation, as well as discuss anything that is important to you about tech, laws, and equipment, or anything to do with relationships, life, and work on the internet or about using digital means to communicate with clients. I am an eclectic psychotherapist, having trained in many models of therapy over the years. My approach is informed by my working knowledge of Humanistic and Relational approaches, including Transactional Analysis, Narrative Therapy,  Person Centred, CBT, NLP,  Strength-Based, and Compassion Focussed. I am a registered member of UKCP, a certified member of UKATA (UK Association for Transactional Analysis), and a professional member of ACTO (Association for counselling and therapy online). I am insured for the provision of psychotherapy, counselling, coaching, and supervision.  If you are interested in discussing one-to-one supervision, get in touch we can discuss your needs and what you are looking for, and you can see whether you feel comfortable with me and whether you feel as though I'd support you in your professional development.  You can text me, or email me, or simply book directly into my calendar for a no-fee 20-min chat using a link Booking link (20 min no-fee) https://app.acuityscheduling.com/schedule.php?owner=16822855&appointmentType=26184959 Or Text my Mobile: 07528389848
