My model for supervision will be underpinned by my allegiance to an integrative framework reflecting my own training and experience as a Psychotherapist, Counsellor and Hypnotherapist ensuring I work within my known areas of expertise and aligned to my level of competence and the ethical and professional boundaries of my professional bodies and those of my Supervisees. My approach will be as follows:
Relational: it is important for me to connect, not just with my Supervisee but his/her client(s) too.
Explorative: I am naturally inquisitive and curious and endeavour to find the “why?” in most things.
Collaborative: Wilmot’s supervision philosophy will form the bedrock of my relationship with my Supervisees in that ‘we do this together’.
Supportive: supervision is a learning relationship and I will endeavour to make my Supervisee feel connected and safe encouraging the development of goodwill, respect and kindness between us.
Reflective: casting a light on what has happened, challenge and explore the work where the Supervisee feels ‘stuck’, see the blind spots the Supervisee cannot reach.
Intuition: I aim to be that someone who can provide that ray of sunshine when the dark clouds loom.
Narrative: story-telling, using my own material from my client work and experience as a Therapist to demonstrate a particular observation, a piece of learning, an intervention.
Overall, my aim will be to see things through the lens of my Supervisee and for them to feel held.
During supervision, many methods such as talking and discussions, application of theory, creative work, role play, interventions, hypnotherapy and listening to recordings (where appropriate) taken from client sessions will be utilised.
