About me

Choosing the right counsellor can feel overwhelming. Not just because there are so many of us, but because when you're already anxious, overwhelmed or emotionally exhausted, even taking the first step can feel like a mountain to climb.

You might have spent hours reading profiles, wondering whether someone will really understand what it's like to be you.

You might be thinking...

"What if I can't explain it properly?"

"What if I don't even know where to start?"

"What if I've tried everything and nothing changes?"

If that's where you are, you're not alone.

That's why I offer a free 15-minute phone call before you book anything. It's simply a chance for us to have a chat, for you to ask any questions and to see whether I feel like the right fit for you, because finding the right counsellor matters.

I believe there is always a reason why we feel the way we do.
Whether you're struggling with anxiety, panic attacks, health anxiety, OCD, trauma, grief, low self-esteem, burnout or simply feeling overwhelmed, I don't believe these experiences happen for no reason. Our minds and bodies are constantly responding to our experiences, often in ways that make complete sense once we understand the bigger picture.

Some people come to see me knowing exactly when things changed. Others tell me they have no idea why they feel the way they do. They just know they're exhausted. Exhausted from overthinking, worrying, trying to keep everyone else happy, or feeling as though they're constantly on edge. Many have spent years trying to work themselves out. They've read the books, listened to podcasts, searched their symptoms online and understand what anxiety or trauma is, yet something still doesn't shift.

That doesn't mean you've failed. It usually means there's more of the story to understand.

One of the things I find myself saying regularly is that our minds and bodies are incredibly clever. They are always trying to protect us. Sometimes those protective patterns are really obvious, but sometimes they've become so familiar that we no longer question them. We simply assume that's who we are.

My role isn't to tell you what's wrong with you because I don't believe that's the right question. I'm much more interested in understanding your experiences, what you've lived through and what your mind and body have learned along the way. When we begin to understand that, people often find they stop fighting themselves quite so much. Things begin to make sense, and that's often where meaningful change starts.

You might recognise yourself in some of what you've read.
You may struggle to switch your mind off, replay conversations or think through every possible outcome before making a decision. You might experience panic attacks, health anxiety or intrusive thoughts that leave you questioning yourself. Perhaps you've experienced trauma or grief that still feels present, even though life has moved on. You may recognise traits of ADHD, autism or another form of neurodiversity and have spent years wondering why life seems harder for you than it appears to be for everyone else.

You may also be the person everyone else thinks is coping. The one who keeps going, looks after everyone else and gets on with life, while privately feeling overwhelmed or exhausted.

Whatever has brought you here, you don't need to have everything figured out before we begin. You don't need to find the right words or worry about saying the wrong thing. We'll make sense of it together.

How I work
Every person is different, which is why I don't believe therapy should be a one-size-fits-all process.

I work integratively, drawing on person-centred, psychodynamic, CBT and Gestalt approaches alongside trauma-informed, nervous system-informed and mind-body approaches. That simply means I adapt the way I work to the person sitting in front of me, rather than expecting you to fit a particular model of therapy.

My aim is to create a space where you feel able to be yourself without worrying about being judged or needing to have all the answers. Some sessions will involve exploring the past. Others will focus on what's happening in your life right now. Often we'll be joining the dots between the two. Therapy isn't about analysing every detail of your life; it's about understanding yourself more fully so that you can move forwards with greater clarity and self-compassion.

My hope is that, over time, you begin to see yourself differently. Not because you've become a different person, but because you've started to understand yourself in a different way.

When people understand why they think, feel and respond as they do, they often become less self-critical. They begin to trust themselves more, feel less overwhelmed and discover that they no longer have to work quite so hard just to get through each day.

Understanding doesn't change the past, but it can change the way we carry it.

If something you've read here resonates with you, I'd love to hear from you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have supported individuals and organisations across a range of settings, working with adults and teenagers experiencing emotional, relational and psychological challenges.

Alongside my private practice, I work as a workplace wellbeing consultant, helping organisations better understand the human experience of work. My focus is on creating psychologically safer workplaces, reducing burnout and helping people perform without feeling they have to keep running on empty.

An important part of my clinical experience came from volunteering as a counsellor within a local hospice, supporting people through grief, bereavement, life-limiting illness and the many emotions that come with caring for someone you love.

The hospice taught me that some experiences can't be solved, but they can be understood, shared and carried differently. It reminded me that there isn't always something to fix. Sometimes the most important thing we can offer another person is the space to feel heard, understood and supported without judgement.

That experience continues to shape the way I work today. It helps me stay alongside people when life feels painful or uncertain, while never losing sight of the person behind the anxiety, grief, trauma or whatever has brought them to therapy.

Counselling and psychotherapy training

  • Diploma in Transformational and Heart-Based Practices

Although my training has given me a broad range of knowledge and therapeutic approaches, I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all model of therapy. Every person has their own story, their own experiences and their own way of making sense of the world, so I adapt the way I work to the individual sitting in front of me.

I believe there is always a reason why we feel the way we do, even if that reason isn't immediately obvious. Rather than focusing solely on managing symptoms, I'm interested in helping you understand what sits underneath them. When we begin to make sense of our experiences with curiosity and compassion, we often start to see ourselves differently, and that's where meaningful change can begin.

You are the expert in your own life. My role is to walk alongside you, helping you make sense of your experiences in a way that feels safe, collaborative and meaningful.
