About me

Hi there. I am an integrative counsellor, working with people 16+. In individual counselling, I specialise in ADHD, relationship dynamics, men's wellbeing, attachment and grief. I am also a certified relationship counsellor, working with couples of all sexual orientations and genders in monogamous and consensually non-monogamous relationships, and families.

You're probably stuck right now and the reason why is unique to how you experience the world around you. We are all natural storytellers, but our stories can become shaped by fear, guilt, low self-worth or other people’s expectations, often from childhood, causing us to take on other people's shame. What began as a way of coping may leave us replaying the past, anticipating what could go wrong or avoiding what matters. Not every difficulty sits inside us. Relationships, work demands, discrimination, gender expectations, inaccessible environments and social pressures can create barriers to wellbeing. Together, we can explore what within you needs compassion and acceptance, what can be approached differently and what around you needs to change.

I tailor the therapy I offer to your needs, because it encourages you to take back your psychological flexibility, where you notice more of what is happening inside and outside you, where you adapt to life changes and respond with a greater range of choice. This is not about seeing the world through the lens of positivity or trying to change who you are. It is about becoming less trapped by rigid patterns in thinking, attention, emotions or behaviour while respecting your genuine needs. When you allow yourself to be who you actually are, change and acceptance come naturally.

Relationships are equally unique in how they work and the problems couples face. I draw a wealth of knowledge working with couples and also the Gottman and Imago theories. Again, it's about what you each need based on who you are individually and as a couple. In relationship therapy, everyone gets an equal share of the time to express themselves. I work for the relationship itself and so I don't take sides.

My first priority is to understand how you (and your partner) experience the world, not to decide who you should be or fit you into a label (difference is not a defect). I work with curiosity, empathy and compassion, respecting your needs and working through your difficulties by exploring what is important to you, where your strengths lie and whether you are moving towards, or away from, the life you really want.

All of my work is person-centred because I can offer you a safe, validating relationship in which you can explore honestly and at your own pace, which is critically important to all therapy. “Integrative” means simply that I draw on other therapies including mindfulness according to what you want and need. My approach to ADHD is about validating, and where appropriate normalising, your life experience either post-diagnosis or having symptoms of ADHD that are affecting your life.  Fundamentally ADHD is about finding ways to meet the challenges life presents and accepting why they are needed. Depending on your needs, I can help you to come to terms with your past, considering an ADHD lens, explore what is important to you, what you're good at, and how to work towards a future with ADHD that means something to you.

Once we have built trust, we can notice patterns that may once have protected you but now leave you feeling stuck. Where useful, I offer practical skills and tailored supports, reinforce what works, and gradually step support back as your confidence grows.

Nature, meditation and mindfulness can also help you feel grounded, accept what cannot be changed and choose a direction based on what matters to you, not on what you think you should do or being controlled by your emotions.

How I can support you

  • Emotional distress and difficult experiences: Anxiety, stress, burnout, depression, low mood, grief, loss, trauma and attachment wounds.
  • Relationships and connection: Relationship difficulties, recurring conflict, communication, the impact of ADHD, gender expectations and changing roles.
  • Neurodivergence and identity: ADHD, Autism and AuDHD, including support for partners, alongside shame, masking, self-esteem, confidence, trust and meaning.

For relationships:

  • Communication breakdowns and recurring conflict
  • ADHD, whether diagnosed, suspected or affecting a partner
  • Emotional or physical disconnection
  • Trust, betrayal and infidelity
  • Separation, divorce and healthy co-parenting
  • Taking the next step

For ADHD:

  • Coming to terms with diagnosis, and understanding how you work.
  • Psychoeducation about ADHD and how it impacts you.
  • Normalising the symptoms that affect you as being human rather than seeing yourself as defective.
  • Coming to terms with your past, maybe years of being told "you're too much", "stupid", "won't amount to anything", "why can't you finish what you started", and more.

How we can meet
We can work together in person from my quiet room in Shoeburyness (there are two flights of stairs), or securely online anywhere in the UK.

Starting counselling can feel like a big decision, so I keep the process simple and low-pressure.

I offer a free 15-minute introductory call. It is a chance to ask questions, get a feel for how I work and see whether we are the right fit, with no obligation to continue.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
