About me

Hello – I am an integrative counsellor, ADHD therapist and relationship counsellor supporting people aged 16+, couples and families. Perhaps life feels overwhelming, patterns keep repeating or you no longer feel like yourself.

My first priority is to understand how you experience the world, not to fit you into a label or decide who you should be. I work with curiosity, empathy and compassion, respecting your needs, values, strengths and difficulties. Differences are not defects.

My work is person-centred: a safe, validating relationship in which you can explore honestly and at your own pace. “Integrative” means I draw on other therapies and mindfulness according to your needs. With ADHD, I often use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), an approach related to CBT that helps you respond differently to difficult thoughts, feelings and challenges.

Once we have built trust, we can notice patterns that may once have protected you but now leave you feeling stuck. Where useful, I offer practical skills and tailored supports, reinforce what works, and gradually step support back as your confidence grows.

Nature, meditation and mindfulness can also help you feel grounded, accept what cannot be changed and choose a direction based on what matters to you.

How I can support you

  • Emotional distress and difficult experiences: Anxiety, stress, burnout, depression, low mood, grief, loss, trauma and attachment wounds.
  • Relationships and connection: Relationship difficulties, recurring conflict, communication, the impact of ADHD, gender expectations and changing roles.
  • Neurodivergence and identity: ADHD, Autism and AuDHD, including support for partners, alongside shame, masking, self-esteem, confidence, trust and meaning.

How we can meet
We can work together in person from my quiet room in Shoeburyness, or securely online anywhere in the UK.

My approach to therapy
We are natural storytellers, but our stories can become shaped by fear, guilt, low self-worth or other people’s expectations. What began as a way of coping may leave us replaying the past, anticipating what could go wrong or avoiding what matters.

Therapy can help you become more psychologically flexible: able to notice what is happening, adapt when life changes and respond with greater choice. This is not forced positivity or an attempt to change who you are. It is about becoming less trapped by rigid patterns in thinking, attention, emotions or behaviour while respecting your genuine needs.

Not every difficulty sits inside the individual. Relationships, work demands, discrimination, gender expectations, inaccessible environments and social pressures can create barriers to wellbeing. Together, we can explore what within you needs compassion and acceptance, what can be approached differently and what around you needs to change.

ADHD-informed therapy
I specialise in ADHD therapy for men, women and couples. ADHD does not look the same in everyone. Some experience visible impulsivity, restlessness or emotional reactivity; others, particularly women and people who mask, struggle more quietly with inattentiveness, overwhelm, perfectionism and low self-worth.

ADHD-related difficulties arise through the interaction between your traits, experiences and environment. Many everyday settings are designed around different ways of thinking, working and regulating attention. This can turn difference into disability. Therapy is therefore not simply about changing you. We can identify barriers, adapt your environment, create practical supports and draw on differences that may also be central to your strengths and ways of coping.

When ADHD is not understood, its effects may be attributed only to anxiety, trauma or another psychological problem. I help you explore what may relate to ADHD, what may have grown from your experiences and how the two interact.

Years of feeling “too much”, “not good enough” or as though you should try harder can leave you exhausted and ashamed. Therapy with me is not about fighting ADHD or using it to excuse hurtful behaviour. It is about understanding yourself, developing self-acceptance and working with your mind rather than continually against it.

For couples, we explore how ADHD affects communication, emotional regulation, responsibilities and connection. Understanding the pattern can reduce blame while preserving healthy boundaries, accountability and both partners’ needs.

Individual counselling
I support people facing childhood trauma, grief, bereavement, burnout or the persistent feeling of not being enough. We can make sense of what shaped you, understand the responses that protected you and reconnect you with your choices, strengths and self-trust. I will not tell you what to do; I will help you find a way forward that is your own.

Relationship therapy for couples and families
Some people come to repair their relationship; others want help moving towards co-parenting, friendship or an amicable ending. Therapy offers a space where each person can feel heard, understand recurring patterns and work through hurt or resentment.

I do not take sides: the relationship is my focus. Drawing on Imago and Gottman approaches, I can help with:

  • Communication breakdowns and recurring conflict
  • ADHD, whether diagnosed, suspected or affecting a partner
  • Emotional or physical disconnection
  • Trust, betrayal and infidelity
  • Separation, divorce and healthy co-parenting
    Taking the next step

Starting counselling can feel like a big decision, so I keep the process simple and low-pressure.

I offer a free 15-minute introductory call. It is a chance to ask questions, get a feel for how I work and see whether we are the right fit, with no obligation to continue.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
