Understanding your eating introductory course
The Understanding your Eating programme is designed for people who are aware that their overeating is driven by emotions rather than by hunger.
The programme does not tell you what to eat or how much. We think you know that already. Instead it helps you to explore whether you are eating to deal with your feelings.
Are you using food to manage your life?
If you are, this programme teaches you a different way of getting through the day.
The program has been developed from research carried out by Julia Buckroyd, Emeritus Professor of Counselling of the University of Hertfordshire and Honorary Fellow of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists.
The introductory course is five weeks long, for 90 minutes each week.
Seminar one – eating is not just about hunger.
Seminar two – eating to manage feelings.
Seminar three – self esteem and how it helps you look after yourself better.
Seminar four – improving body esteem.
Seminar five – using people instead of food to get you through your day.

Shelley Treacher is a BACP accredited psychotherapist, and has been working in private practice and with groups in Bristol since 2003. Shelley works on a daily basis on the subject of binge eating and over eating, both with adults individually and in group work.
