Tamara Hoyton is a Senior Practice Consultant for Relate National, Clinical Supervisor, Trainer, and Psychosexual Therapist. Tamara has been a practising clinician for over 22 years, and she has contributed to articles in The Guardian, The Telegraph and several online platforms.

Her accessible nature, vast experience, humour, and continued curiosity about intimate relationships make her a compelling facilitator. Her work with Relate National on the subject of quality assurance brings a groundedness to practice. Her continuing caseload ensures her presentation is endlessly relevant to practice.

Who is this workshop appropriate for?

  • Those who have an interest in psychosexual therapy (PST).
  • For those whose interest may be further training or enhanced knowledge of how to work with a sexual focus.
  • Suitable for practitioners of the equivalent of level 4 training and above.
  • This workshop does not constitute training in PST.

Aims:

  • To be able to consider the difference between working with a sexual focus and when the need for referral may be appropriate.
  • An overview of PST evaluation, theory, practice, and assessment.
  • A presentation of common sexual dysfunctions will be offered which will include some information on compulsive sexual behaviour disorder (CSBD); previously referred to as sex addiction.
  • This is a sex-positive workshop aiming to promote inclusivity.

Learning outcomes:

  • Tamara will give specific examples of the criteria for sexual dysfunctions.
  • Increased knowledge of when a GP referral is a more appropriate route for a client.
  • An overview of treatment approaches for sexual difficulty.
  • Consideration will be made around when a presenting difficulty may be located in the relationship or the individual.

Due to the nature of this workshop, a respectful discussion will be sought to determine terms of reference that all participants are comfortable with at the start of the day.
