8 week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course
This eight week course is designed to help with anxiety and stress. However, it also provides a supportive opportunity to develop a mindfulness practice for those interested in doing this.
Each week there is a two hour class which will develop knowledge about mindfulness and stress, and increase your self-awareness. The classes will include meditations and discussion as well as teaching.
There is an expectation that participants will do some homework. This includes meditation and reflective diaries.
After week six there is a silent day of meditation. This consolidates some of the meditation practices and enables a more prolonged opportunity, at a deeper level, to notice thoughts and the meaning we give them.
The course in help in a room in Brighouse Central Methodist church where there is plenty of space to do mindful movement, similar to yoga. There is nearby free parking.
