About me

Weekly therapy in Bath, BA2

Whether you’re struggling with low self-esteem, relationship difficulty, past adverse or abusive childhood experiences, anxiety, or depression, I offer a non-judgemental space to think together.

I’m a BACP-registered psychodynamic counsellor and BPC-accredited CCYP (Counselling Children and Young People) Practitioner. I work one-on-one in central Bath.

I work with all kinds of psychological and relationship difficulties. I have a particular interest in working with anxiety, and have a lot of experience supporting clients who have experienced childhood abuse and neglect. I enjoy working with clients across the age spectrum, from children to university students, through to those in midlife and the elderly. Whatever you are struggling with, we can work together to make sense of your thoughts and explore how you might move beyond unhelpful habits and past pain.

My core training is talk-therapy based, but I work with creative materials with young people and sometimes find that integrating these into therapy with adults can be helpful too.

I have recently begun to integrate some mindfulness and affect-based approaches into the way I work.

If you’re interested in working with me, get in touch, and we can meet to see if it feels as if I can be helpful to you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Fees

£45.00 - £70.00

Additional information

My standard session fee for adults is £60. For under 18s, my standard fee is £70 to reflect the extra work and safeguarding involved.

I have a limited number of low-cost slots (£45) available to those on a very low income (adults only).

Further information

The first session lasts 50 minutes and is a chance for you to ask any questions, tell me about yourself and find out whether I am a suitable match for your needs.

Regular appointments are offered at the same time each week. I believe therapy is most impactful face to face, but sometimes offer sessions on Zoom too.

Psychodynamic counselling is not strategy-based, so rather than advice, the focus is on in-depth understanding, paying attention to anxiety and emotion, and allowing space for you to explore your thoughts and all your feelings in a non-judgemental space.
