About us

The Village Orchard East opened in October 2019 with an aim to support anyone wishing to access trauma responsive, mental health support.

We know people can face a number of barriers when trying to find help, but we believe everybody deserves access to the psychological support they need, that it is suited to them and at a price they can afford. We offer sliding scale fees for our sessions, meaning those able to pay full price for their sessions are 'Paying it Forward' to allow someone with financial limitations to access high-quality, trauma responsive psychological support.

Our team of independent practitioners, volunteers and students provide this support through one to one psychological interventions and group work.

The services we offer are open to children, young people, adults, and families. We are also able to create bespoke psychological support packages for schools, groups and organisations.

The Village Orchard values connections with many other organisations, we are great believers in Community over Competition. We know much can be gained from connecting with people.

We have creative partnerships with professional services and other agencies, local and national charities, social enterprises, schools, organisations, the NHS, and local councils.

Our work aims to reduce the strain on statutory services and charitable organisations that are already under-funded or running over capacity.

Training, qualifications & experience

In our team, we are able to offer art therapy, EMDR therapy, dance movement psychotherapy, creative arts therapy and integrative counselling.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.

We have verified that at least one professional at this organisation is registered with the relevant professional body.

Areas of counselling we deal with

Other areas of counselling we deal with

Creative talking therapies - A flexible, conversational approach that may include creative elements. Often helpful for those wanting space to reflect, process experiences and build emotional understanding.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) - A structured therapy that supports the processing of traumatic memories. Particularly helpful for people experiencing PTSD or trauma-related difficulties.

Art psychotherapy - Uses art-making alongside talking to explore thoughts and feelings. Can be helpful for those who find it difficult to put experiences into words or who prefer a more creative, non-verbal approach.

Dance movement psychotherapy - Uses movement and body awareness to explore emotions and experiences. May suit those who feel disconnected from their body or find expression through movement more accessible than words.

Music psychotherapy - Uses music and/or elements of music (like sound, rhythm and harmony) to explore experiences and emotions, improve communication skills, reduce stress and anxiety and develop coping strategies. Useful for those who have difficulty verbalising their feelings or experiences.

Child & adolescent Psychotherapeutic Counselling - Uses various techniques, including play, storytelling and other creative interventions, alongside a strong therapeutic relationship to engage clients and help them express their feelings and experiences. Can help children and young people to make sense of what they are experiencing, feel less distressed, become more self-aware, heal and develop resilience.

Additional information

We are a Not-for-Profit organisation. As such, for Talking and Creative Therapies, we offer price points between £40 and £65 per session and ask people to consider their situation and pay what they are financially able. Any price between £40 and £65 is an option, so it could be that £42, £53 or £61 is the right fee for you. Operating this system allows us to support people, regardless of what they are able to pay and ensures access to mental health support for those who need it, rather than just those who don’t face financial restrictions.

The amount you pay will not be means-tested; we operate on a system of trust that you will pay what you can afford. Every pound coming into Village Orchard East CIC allows us to continue offering low-cost, accessible psychological support.

We hold a small number of sessions at a further reduced rate, accessible for less than £40, these are primarily for situations where we are supporting more than one member of the same household/family. These spaces may have a longer waiting list as we can only offer a small number at any one time. We are happy to discuss this as an option.

We send out invoices monthly to cover the sessions you have received. Your initial assessment appointment is free.

The sessions will take place in our rooms at Carrow House, Norwich

Further information on EMDR pricing:

EMDR sessions work a little differently to other talking or creative therapies.

This work takes place for approximately 24 sessions but may end earlier or later. The first few sessions are shorter, establishing sessions at around 50 minutes, and are charged at our usual sliding scale fee option of £40 - £65. After these initial sessions, the time will increase to up to 90 minutes, at this point the cost increases to £75.
