About me

There are times when life can feel difficult to make sense of. You may know that something needs to change but not quite know what, or you may simply need somewhere you can talk openly about what is happening without feeling judged or having to have all the answers.

I offer a warm, thoughtful space where we can begin to understand what is going on for you and what you might need.

I am a relational integrative counsellor, which means I don't believe that one way of working suits everybody. My work is particularly influenced by person-centred and relational therapy, Transactional Analysis and psychodynamic thinking, but I try not to make therapy feel overly theoretical or clinical.

For me, therapy is much more about two people trying to understand something together. We might explore what has happened in your past, what is happening in your life now, or patterns in relationships and ways of coping that once made sense but may no longer be helping you.

Sometimes therapy is about understanding why you feel the way you do. Sometimes it is about getting through a particularly difficult period. At other times it can be about knowing yourself differently and gradually finding more freedom in how you relate to yourself, other people and the situations you find yourself in.

I work open-endedly and tailor the therapy to the person sitting in front of me. I won't try to fit you into a particular model or expect you to arrive knowing exactly what you want from counselling. We can work that out together.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified relational integrative counsellor with experience of working with clients experiencing depression, stress, anxiety and relationship difficulties. My approach is grounded in building a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship, where you can explore your experiences at your own pace and feel heard without judgement.

I also have experience of working in high-pressure environments, including NHS settings and multidisciplinary teams. This has helped me develop a calm, thoughtful and collaborative way of working, particularly when supporting people through challenging or complex circumstances.

My training is integrative, drawing particularly on person-centred and relational therapy, Transactional Analysis, gestalt and psychodynamic thinking. This allows me to adapt the way I work to the individual rather than expecting every client to fit a single model of therapy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
