About me
If you’re here, something in your life may feel heavy, confusing, or simply too much to carry alone. You might be longing for a space where you can slow down, breathe, and be met with warmth rather than pressure.
Hello I'm Victoria Hampson, a BACP Registered, Integrative Counsellor based in North West England, offering online therapy to adults across the UK (and worldwide, with some licensing exceptions - I work with many expats). My work is gentle, trauma-informed, and built around the idea that you don't need the "right words" or a neat story to begin. We can start exactly where you are.
How I can help
People come to me when they're weighed down by grief or loss, shattered by trauma or difficult experiences, feeling overwhelmed or anxious, stuck in old patterns, creatively blocked or burnt out, or simply unsure who they are or what they need.
I specialise in:
Grief & loss - compassionate support for bereavement, ambiguous loss, and the quieter, less-spoken-about forms of loss such as Pregnancy loss - specialist, sensitive support for miscarriage, TFMR, stillbirth, ectopic, molar pregnancy, absorbed multiple, missed miscarriage, chemical pregnancy, blighted ovum (Anembryonic Pregnancy), and termination. I am an Accredited Pregnancy Loss Practitioner.
Cancer & serious illness - support for those facing a cancer diagnosis, treatment, or its aftermath, as well as for carers and those bereaved by cancer. I bring real experience here, having worked directly within a Cancer Unit supporting patients at every stage, from diagnosis through to palliative and end-of-life care.
Trauma & difficult experiences - a safe, steady space to process what's happened and how it lives in your body and mind.
Anxiety & overwhelm - working gently with your nervous system, your patterns, harsh inner critics and the stories you've learned about yourself.
My approach
I work in a calm, relational, and collaborative way - no judgement, no pressure to perform, no expectation to be "fixed." I draw from a range of integrative approaches (including CBT, IFS/Parts Work, trauma-informed, psychodynamic, object relations, and somatic methods) depending on what you need, and where appropriate, I can incorporate Bibliotherapy - using carefully chosen books and reading as a supportive tool alongside our work together.
I bring experience from a varied background, including women's mental health services, children's bereavement support, family support work, and oncology counselling - alongside private practice.
Working together
Sessions are 60 minutes, held weekly or fortnightly via secure video call - it is important you feel comfortable, so you can bring your tea, coffee and your pet. I offer a mandatory free 30-minute assessment prior to working with any client. You getting the right help matters more than you becoming my client. If we're not the right fit, I'll always try to point you somewhere that is.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
