About me

Sometimes life events can leave us feeling fragmented, or as though parts of ourselves have been lost or pushed aside, leaving us feeling disconnected, numb, or anxious. Therapy can offer a space to gently bring together the different strands of our experiences and reconnect with ourselves, supporting new ways of understanding and moving forward.

How Can I Help

My approach is relational and humanistic, with a strong emphasis on building a trusting therapeutic relationship. I avoid assumptions and view you as the expert in your own experience. I am here to walk alongside you, offering support, reflection, and compassion as you find your way forward. Where it feels appropriate, we may work collaboratively to explore possible changes, and I may share my understanding of psychological theory and evidence-based practice to support your process. This includes an awareness of how early experiences can shape our relationship with ourselves and others, explored at a pace that feels safe and led by your needs

Areas of Special Interest

I work with individuals and couples of all ages and with a wide range of experiences, including trauma, the impact of abuse, and more general difficulties such as anxiety, depression, stress, and relational difficulties.

Within this work, I have a particular interest in supporting individuals with disordered eating and body image difficulties. I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches to to support people to explore their relationship with food and eating with curiosity and compassion. The work involves understanding how these patters may have developed, what might be maintaining them, and what may need to change. Our work is collaborative and paced, with care taken to ensure it feels safe, respectful, and led by your needs and goals.

Recovery from disordered or unhappy eating patterns, and the behaviours that can be associated with them, is a highly individual journey. Many people find it helpful to have support as they navigate this process. If any of this resonates with you, I want to affirm that change is possible, and that there is a potential future where you feel more at ease with your body, able to nourish yourself, and more able to engage fully in your life.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a background in psychology (BA Hons) and hold a Level 5 Diploma in Person-Centered Counselling and Therapy. I also have a Post-Qualifying Diploma in Working with Eating Disorders and a Level 7 Diploma in Clinical Supervision.

I have completed additional training and have experience in working with trauma, including rape, sexual abuse, and domestic abuse. I have trained with and volunteered for the Samaritans. I receive regular clinical supervision and am committed to ongoing learning to ensure I’m offering safe, ethical, and effective support.

I consistently engage in continuous professional development to support my practice.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
