About us

Traumaform CIC is a non-profit community interest company dedicated to providing a professional, confidential and affordable service for those trying to recover from trauma and adversity – be that single one off events such as road traffic collisions, natural disasters, sudden death of a loved one, or any situations involving repeated emotional, physical or sexual abuse, witnessing domestic violence, neglect, bullying and any other adverse childhood experiences.

If you have experienced or witnessed one or more frightening or traumatic events or have endured adverse or stressful situations or relationships in your life, and are not feeling “right” or indeed may never have felt “right”, you may be suffering from the effects of these traumas. These effects may manifest themselves in a variety of ways including symptoms of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder such as intrusive thoughts or images, flashbacks, avoidance of any reminders, nightmares and sleep problems, hyper-vigilance, feeling irritable or on edge, changes in mood, feelings of fear, anger, guilt or shame - or Complex PTSD which would also include difficulties in relationships, problems regulating emotions, feelings of anger or rage, dissociating, feeling a lack of self worth, difficulty trusting and a fractured sense of self. You may be suffering from bouts of depression, anxiety or other difficulties as a result of these difficulties.

How can Traumaform help you?

Traumaform CIC is dedicated to helping trauma survivors transform the effects of trauma, leading to reduction of symptoms, improved relationships, development of self and identity, hope for the future and the possibility of Post-traumatic Growth.

What to expect when reaching out to us for the first time

In the first instance, we will offer you a free 30-minute initial chat so that we can identify how we are best able to support you further.

There is no cost for the 30-minute initial call as it is more of an informal chat to explore what issues you would like to raise, discuss therapy, and to give you an opportunity to ask any questions.

It is usually done by phone or by Zoom, and there is no obligation for you to take up therapy if you feel that the approach doesn't fit.

Please don't hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions.

Training, qualifications & experience

About our counsellors

At Traumaform CIC, we work with a number of fully qualified and experienced trauma-informed counsellors and trauma specialists who all have their individual memberships and accreditations with the BACP and/or other relevant professional organisations such as the EMDR Association, NCIP (The National Council of Integrative Psychotherapists), and others. Traumaform CIC also has Organisational membership with the BACP.

Our Trauma Specialists will have completed Post-graduate Training in Traumatology and PTSD, as well as their initial Counsellor Training, and continue to attend various CPD activities.

Types of therapy offered at Traumaform

Traumaform CIC works mainly within a three-phased approach to Trauma, including Stabilisation, Trauma Processing, and Integration. Our variety of therapists means we are able to offer experience and expertise in the following areas:

  • EMDR
  • Brainspotting
  • Somatic therapy
  • Couples therapy
  • STAIR (Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Regulation)
  • CPT (Cognitive Processing Therapy)
  • IRRT (Imagery Rescripting and Reprocessing Therapy)
  • NET (Narrative Exposure Therapy)
  • PE (Prolonged Exposure Therapy)
  • Adlerian therapy
  • CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)
  • Person-centred therapy
  • Transactional Analysis
  • Arts and Crafts group (free, online)

Some of these approaches are trauma specific and designed to process traumatic memories, whereas others work within the Stabilisation phase.

Generic trauma-informed counselling

Traumaform also offers more generic trauma-informed counselling - this offers a more holistic and less structured way of working through trauma, and may also be appropriate for those who may not be ready to go deep into processing. All our trauma-informed counsellors will have completed their initial counsellor training, and bring with them their own unique way of working with Trauma as self-employed Traumaform affiliates.

Working with trainee counsellors

Traumaform also provides student placements from various modalities and training providers. A placement with Traumaform CIC allows trainees to learn about Trauma and PTSD through attendance at our workshops, through regular groups supervision and through first hand experience of working with clients. This allows sessions to be offered at significantly reduced cost in a safe and held environment.

Member organisations *

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
