About me
Hello, my name’s Tim. I am an integrative, relational counsellor/therapist based in South East London. I mainly practice in person from my calm, quiet, private garden space, surrounded by trees and nature, in between Hither Green and Catford. I also offer sessions online via Zoom.
Being integrative means I draw from a range of different approaches and traditions, to assist with your unique needs as my client. It is my view that no single approach holds the ‘key’ to all problems, and it helps to have multiple perspectives to address what might be bothering you.
I draw from psychodynamic/psychoanalytic, body psychotherapy/somatic psychology, trauma-informed, humanistic and existential approaches. I adopt a holistic approach that looks at the whole person in context and works with all of the different layers and aspects of your experience.
My approach is also relational. This means I aim to create a trusting, authentic and collaborative relationship together, to help you find ways to reach your desired goals. Therapy is not a ‘one size fits all’ process; it is not the same for every person. I am open to hearing your experiences of how we work together, and exploring ways to ensure we meet your unique needs as a client. I understand that you know your experience best, but that working through problems in connection with someone else is often the first step towards healing, change and growth.
Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a musician for many years, including touring in the UK and Europe. I am always keen on exploring and working with artistic and creative issues in my practice. I also worked in mental health and disability support at various London universities, and in home care for individuals with brain injuries and neurological conditions.
I operate within a social justice framework and am a diversity inclusive therapist. I welcome all clients to my practice. I see therapy as a process that can contribute to positive social change, which can contest power and discrimination, to create a more inclusive, equal and humane society. Our sessions will provide a space to openly explore and reflect on all aspects or ‘intersections’ of your identity, such as race, sex, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, and religion and spirituality.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a Graduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling (Level 7) from The Minster Centre, a leading integrative therapy training institution.
I am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), which means that my practice adheres to their Code of Ethics.
I am currently finishing my MA in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling, also at The Minster Centre. This advanced qualification, accredited by Middlesex University, expands and deepens my existing training, to ensure that my client work meets the highest clinical standards.
Since 2021 I have worked as a Counsellor at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in Greenwich, South London, providing time limited therapy to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
I have also provided 'open ended'/long term therapy at the Minster Centre Psychotherapy and Counselling Service (MCPCS), a low cost counselling service in Queen’s Park.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
Introductory Call:
If you get in touch with me, we will first arrange a time for a free 15 minute introductory chat, normally via Zoom. This will be an opportunity to briefly discuss what brings you to therapy, for you to ask any questions about me and my practice, and for us to discuss timings for an initial session.
Initial Session:
If possible, we will meet in person for the initial session, to get a sense of what working together might be like. We will discuss in more depth what has brought you to therapy, what you are wanting to get out of the sessions and how I might help. This is also an opportunity for you to ask me any questions you might have.
This session will be charged at the usual rate (£75). There is no obligation to continue working together, if you don’t think the fit is right.
If at the end of the initial session, you decide you want to work together, then we will agree on a regular time slot. If you are wanting shorter term work, this is something we can explore.
