About me

Are you feeling overwhelmed, unhappy or inadequate? Are you being triggered by past experiences and painful memories?

Have you found that you are repeating the same patterns, or you've tried to make changes but keep ending up with the same outcome?

You may be feeling lost or stuck, and unsure how to move forwards. You may be wondering why you can't just "let go" of the past?

You may just want to talk to someone.

I can offer you the opportunity to explore what is preventing you from leading a happier and more fulfilling life. I provide a safe and confidential space to discuss your concerns without judgement.

Working with me can help you transform your life, relationships and mental health. We can work together to improve your mood, self-esteem and confidence, and most importantly, help you feel joy again. I provide so much more than just coping strategies or advice to manage your symptoms. I am qualified and experienced in looking for the root cause of your concerns, and working to resolve the underlying issues, to prevent them from repeating in the future.

By processing any trauma from the past, we can ensure that it doesn't continue to haunt you in the present, and enable you to make changes that will last. I can also help you understand what may be "going wrong" in your relationships, and why you may be using strategies that are unhelpful in the long-term, eg. avoidance or self-sabotage. I can help you understand how you can do things differently in the future.

Previous clients of mine have found that I helped them to make long-lasting changes to their lives, enabling them to have healthier relationships with themselves and others. I have helped people live free of guilt or shame, silence their inner critic, and reduce the intensity and frequency of trauma triggers. I have created a space where clients feel safe enough to process a variety of incredibly painful experiences, both those rooted in the past, like childhood abuse and neglect; and those that are more recent, like bereavement, relationship breakdown, baby loss and fertility issues.

I am the Founder and Director of Tara Bucknall Psychotherapy, and I bring a wealth of experience of psychotherapy with adults from all walks of life. I am a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist with a passion for helping people discover and resolve the root cause of their distress, and supporting them to make deep, long-lasting changes to their lives.

Alongside my private practice, I consult for private healthcare provider HCA UK and Morgan Stanley at their European Headquarters in London. Prior to this, I worked in a diverse range of NHS mental health services for 10 years, including in inpatient and outpatient settings, therapeutic communities and in the criminal justice system.

I am registered and accredited by the UKCP and CPJA as a full clinical member, and follow their ethics and guidelines. I am also registered with a number of private insurers.

If this sounds like what you are looking for, please get in touch. I'd be very happy to speak with you over the phone or by email about how I may be able to help.
