About me
Hi and welcome.
My name is Susanne (also knows as Sanne) and I am a qualified and accredited counsellor and psychotherapist with experience in working with young people (11-18) and adults, as well as running mental health groups to support people who struggle with anxiety and depression.
I am passionate about providing a space where people regardless of age, sex, gender or ethical background, can feel seen, heard and understood in a warm, empathic and friendly environment.
I offer face to face, online and telephone appointments ~ I also have a limited number of Walk and Talk sessions available.
As an integrative counsellor I adapt my style to suit and support your needs. I do this with care to make sure we go at your pace to allow you to get the most out of our time together.
Remember your experience will be unique to you.

I have 7 years experience of in counselling and 9 years of running and facilitating mental health groups for both adolescence and adults.
I truly believe in the therapeutic process and is aware how much growth and self-awareness it can give you as an individual. It can help you feel understood, valued, accepted as well as reduce anxiety, low mood and depression.
We will work together to find a way of being, which feel right for you.
Since qualifying as a counsellor, I have continued my passion for working with young people and specialised in working with adolescence, to support young people as they transition from child to adult.
This has also given me further insight into the impact of adverse childhood experiences and therefore supports the work I do with adults.
I also hold an ACTO qualified in delivering counselling online and on the phone.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

I sometimes use a range of creative mediums in the therapeutic process and if we feel this will be helpful for the therapeutic process, then we will use it. This does not mean you have to be good at art or be creative but It will help us gain insight into you as a person.
Creative mediums could include visualisations, imagery, guided relaxation, object relation and sand tray work.

Further information
If you decide to come for counselling we will decide between us (or with your parents/carers - if you are under 18) how we will work together. Usually, it is once a week and ideally at the same time each week. I do work in an open-ended way, which means we are not tied down to a certain amount of sessions.
