Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy MBACP

About me

Hello, I’m Stephanie, a Psychodynamic Counsellor and Psychotherapist with a background working in acute mental health care. I provide a calm, curious and collaborative space where we can explore together whatever you might be struggling with - for example, anxiety, trauma, stress. Therapy can take time but together we can begin to make sense of your experiences and work toward a place where you can feel differently and live a more meaningful and fulfilled life. I offer appointments same time and day each week Monday through Friday.

Psychodynamic therapy is built on the bases that our early experiences influence our current interpersonal relationships, at an unconscious level. As such, our work would help to bring those unconscious thoughts and feelings to a conscious level, providing you with a deeper understanding of your experience and allowing for more meaningful relationships.

My background prior to therapy is predominantly working within the NHS in crisis prevention/support. This means I’ve worked with a hugely diverse group of people grappling with depression, addiction, suicidal ideation, self harm, trauma, neurodiversity and more. Everyone deserves support wherever they are on their healing journey and I’d be honoured to provide a piece of that support.

I can provide in person or online therapy and use rooms within the Rock Clinic Association or the Somatic Therapies Centre within Hove, West and East Brighton. I offer a free 30 minute phone call consultation to discuss further - send me a message to start the conversation. If we decide to move forward together, the sessions thereafter are 50 minutes long at £55 per session.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
