Question:
So who am I? What makes me unique and different?
Answer:
The story of my own Soul Searching, Quest for Truth and Divine Knowledge, Continued Student and Sincere Traveller on the Path of Life.
Therefore in short:
This is my vocation. This is what I am
And how is that expressed?
That in more recent years I was the Founder and Director of the Anam Cara Holistic Centre (from 2008 until 2025). This having been an expression of my own personal and professional development, which continues to this day. The Centre was a vision realised during a precise moment in time, and dedicated to the healing of the mind, body and spirit. A dynamic space that enabled clients to search for answers to their deepest and most profound questions. To facilitate their continued development and integration of both their ego self and their spiritual self. All to enable them to reach their greater potential.
The Centre combined both Western psychology (mind, body, feelings, behaviours) with Eastern philosophy (the search for Meaning, Purpose, Spiritual Growth) to help individuals realise their Highest Values. All delivered in a calm, safe, intelligent and spiritually mature environment.
However, from 2025 I have been deeply called to now consolidate my life long professional learning and experience and to once again move away from being an outer, visible and overt practitioner, to becoming a more removed, private and intimate guide and teacher. A facilitator to help the sincere student on their own sacred and questing journey.
Therefore, my work has become more personal, and often attracts those who are creative, intelligent and self-questioning, who want to achieve a deeper experience with a trusted guide.
Often these people can be struggling, feeling lost, confused, hurt or stuck. But somehow, mysteriously, they are also the new teachers and leaders of tomorrow, now being spiritually prepared and developed to take on their future and often not yet realised or defined roles, within the new collective paradigm that is in the early processes of emerging.
My role is to be their companion, guide, teacher, facilitator or witness to their story and life experiences. All to help lead them through their challenges, doubts or difficulties. Supporting their growth as they navigate through their deeper and more unconscious realms and into their unfolding and ever expanding and emerging conscious selves. Helping them to integrate the learnings and wisdoms achieved.
All this in service of enabling the seeker that is soul searching to get to know more deeply who they most truly are, to remember, and then move evermore towards living a more authentic, balanced and happier life. To become more genuinely free and confidently aligned in the flow of their self-actualised lives, and able to reach more of their Higher Potentials.
Why Anam Cara ?
Anam Cara is an ancient Celtic term meaning “soul friend” or “soulmate,” combining the Irish words anam (soul) and cara (friend). It describes a deep, spiritual bond where two people’s souls connect, allowing for complete understanding, trust, and spiritual growth, transcending superficial boundaries. This relationship offers compassionate presence, honest witnessing, and a safe space to be one’s true self, essential for spiritual development, as famously explored by poet John O’Donohue.
Key aspects of Anam Cara:
Deep Connection : A friendship where souls mingle, offering unconditional acceptance and a feeling of being "at home".
Spiritual Guidance : In early Celtic monasticism, it referred to a spiritual teacher or guide, a trusted confidant for revealing inner thoughts.
Unconditional Love : A bond free from judgement, ego or pretence, allowing vulnerability and truth.
Timeless and Limitless : The connection transcends physical separation, age, gender, or cultural barriers, remaining alive even over distance.
Essential for Wholeness : Early Celtic wisdom saw such a friend as vital, like “a body without a head,” for spiritual wholeness.

WHY DO YOU FEEL UNWELL ?
The power of your mind and spirit is extraordinary. How else could you explain how people can walk over hot coals or broken glass without suffering injury? Or why some people have surgery under hypnosis and feel no pain? Or even the familiar phenomenon of people who defer dying until after an important event such as a wedding or the birth of a grandchild?
The truth is, the mind and the body are inextricably linked. As author Caroline Myss wrote, “Every thought you have has travelled through your biological system and activated a physiological response. Some are like depth charges, some more subtle and still others unconscious… each generates a physiological response.”
So, it follows that if you are not feeling well, even if you can’t quite put your finger on the problem, the answer may lie within. That’s not to say you shouldn’t go to see your doctor but it may be that the doctor ends up simply trying to treat symptoms (such as backache, miscellaneous injuries, organ disease, immune system dysfunction, headaches, anxiety, addiction, depression) instead of finding the root cause. Physical symptoms are often indicative of deeper emotional issues or unconscious dilemmas – and the more they are ignored, the worse the physical symptoms are likely to become.
As a psychospiritual practitioner I will look at you in a holistic way, carefully assessing the outer problems and symptoms and then work with you to see what seems to be calling for our attention to help heal the body, mind, emotions and spirit. There is no set solution to a particular problem – your issues are unique and need a unique response by combining the right balance of treatment for the body, mind and spirit. Together we will monitor and review your progress as we proceed and will make adjustments as required.
Sonia Manning explains how this approach helped one woman:
“A lady in her early thirties had been developing increasingly worrying physical symptoms, which ultimately resulted in her collapsing on her way into hospital - and not leaving for nine weeks. For five days she was in a critical condition as a neurological crisis led to multiple system failure. She had a battery of intensive tests, followed by very high doses of emergency steroids and immunosuppressants to bring her body under control. It worked…just. The condition was diagnosed and she recovered very, very slowly, undergoing some very unpleasant procedures in her recovery, including eye surgery and taking a long-term cocktail of strong medication with side-effects nearly as bad as the illness itself. She spent two years off work in a continual debilitated state and the next seven years in and out of the London based National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery and the world renowned Moorfields London Eye Hospital.
Then, being told she would need further surgery, she finally decided to work more directly and deliberately with the holistic route instead. Restarting psychotherapy (which she had struggled with previously), she found she was at first once more resistant; with it in fact taking a further two years for her to break through her fears and fully trust herself and the process itself to then be more clearly and confidently able to start to listen properly to her own words and spoken story. Only then did she begin to really understand herself and finally come to understand and respect what she needed to do in order to heal herself. In time she made some important life changes which her therapy had helped reveal and had given her the courage to carry out. Then, as her awareness continued to grow, she added other therapies to her on-going psychological support - selective massage, precise acupuncture, body strengthening exercises as well as visualisation, past life regression, spiritual healing and meditation.
The proposed further surgery never occurred, and she is now symptom-free and believes the life threatening illness has gone for good. Her recovery is down to the power of the mind, body, emotions and spirit all working together in harmony.
How do I know this to be true?
...because that woman was ME.”

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Therapies offered
Alongside traditional and well established Western psychology and psychotherapy theories, all work will also embrace and integrate Eastern and spiritual philosophies.
Possible themes we will cover:
- The Soul’s Journey
- The Hero’s Journey (bravery and courage)
- The Search for Self/our True Identity
- Who am I?
- The Search for our deeper Purpose, Meaning and Values
- Who is the Authentic me (true me) as opposed to the Adapted me (oughts/shoulds)
- The ongoing, ever unfolding journey from the Unconscious me to the Conscious me
- The Traveller willing to enter the unknown mysteries of this life and beyond
- An integration of the forgotten, alienated, wounded, discarded, dismembered aspects of self
The "Dark Night of the Soul”
Back to the Whole/Divine self – a healing and remembering of our true nature
“We are Spiritual Beings having an earthly/human experience”
Why?
For what?
- The impulse towards Growth and Self Actualisation – how to learn to recognise, listen, discern and hear the quiet, still voice of truth within (Spirit) separate from the many, often chattering, voices of the ego self
- Birth, Death, Rebirth – understanding the cycles of life - everything has a beginning, middle and end. What about your past lives? Future lives? What is still held in the wider, collective story of your own family and past generations? And possibly still holding much influence – for better or worse
Methods of work
Where appropriate we can encompass a variety of creative techniques to enhance your own unique therapeutic experience. Some examples may include :
- Inner Child regression/trance work including automatic writing, art work, guided visualisation, or more practical exercises to engage the Inner Child with the adult self
- The use of dreams, symbols, metaphor, visions, guided imagination techniques to access the Soul’s voice/wise messages that are all held in your deeper unconscious
- Creative writing and story telling - to observe and extract the deeper messages behind the written words/story lines
- The Journey of the Soul - bringing into your sessions important objects, artifacts, photographs etc that tell your personal story then extracting the deeper meaning and messages contained therein
- Various trance techniques, for example, Regression, Meditation, Relaxation. All to enable the ego to step aside to allow for the greater (yet unconscious) wisdom and messages to surface
- Learning Eastern, Buddhist, "Right Relationship", Mindfulness, Self Awareness, philosophies
- Right thought
- Right speech
- Right action
- To do no Harm
Especially important in areas of interpersonal conflict/challenge/difference
How to manage negotiation with maturity and wisdom
There are many maps/models/exercises to choose from
- Using artwork/practical exercises to identify and resolve unhelpful and restrictive belief systems, assumptions, mindsets, fears, phobias, guilt, shame, prejudices etc.
- Grounding/stress release techniques
- Breathwork
- Sacred rituals, how to create and apply
- Learning how to discipline and quieten the ego
- "Being" not "Doing"
- Awareness and Will – How to integrate and apply newly gathered insights into your existing life and relationships with maturity and skill
- Chakra/Energy/Aura Work – learning about the Body/Feelings/Mind/Spirit interplay and how, in every moment, we simultaneously express on each of these levels, our current state of ease/dis-ease
- Learning how to read and diagnose our own feedback mechanisms
- How your “psychology becomes your biology” - That your life and experiences are a reflection of every choice and decision you have made to date
- Crisis/emergency work. This can often be misdiagnosed and pathologised by traditional psychological approaches. Ego breakdown/crisis is often an attempt by an individual to break through and get beyond their limitations or stuckness. This can be complex work but if a client is willing it can be enormously liberating and freeing – profound shifts for the better can be achieved.
