About me

I am a qualified counsellor registered with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP).

I specialise in supporting Children, Young People, and Adults with their physical and emotional wellbeing through both short-term counselling and long-term psychodynamic therapy.

I offer a friendly, safe, and confidential space to listen and understand what is going on for you from your perspective. In building a trusting relationship, my approach to our sessions is respectful, honest, and adaptable to your needs. Together, we explore your concerns at your pace and work towards the changes you want without judgement or shame.

My counselling style combines Person Centred and Transactional Analysis approaches to support you with personal growth and change. I also incorporate creative interventions such as free association artwork to help you access your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours more informally.

Additionally, I offer Ecotherapy- Walk and Talk Therapy in calming outdoor environments, supporting you in connecting with nature and your emotions more openly.

I look forward to hearing from you and learning how I can support you in achieving a more balanced life.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Feedback from clients include:

Shelley has a positive, calming manner that instantly puts me at ease. She helps me think and work rationally and realistically through my thoughts and concerns. She has such a kind and empathetic manner.

Shelley has helped me navigate and understand complex emotions with which I have struggled with for many years and have been crippling.
Shelley has also helped me identify my patterns of behaviour that are unhelpful and with her help, I am beginning to learn how to show myself compassion to look forward and start leaving the past behind.
Her support has been invaluable and I am starting to feel I have a brighter future.

I feel I have grown exponentially working with Shelley. She has helped me come out of my shell and challenges me in the best way possible, to ensure I reach my potential. Shelley thinks outside the box and we problem solve, coming up with new ideas and solutions to what you may face. That’s why I have enjoyed working with her, she is truly inspiring.

Shelley, you've listened to me with a kind ear and not judged me when you could have, which I'll always be thankful for.

My counselling is helpful as Shelley helps unscramble my messy head x.

Shelley speaks to me like a person and not a patient.

Having someone I could open up to. Shelley was absolutely amazing.

Shelley's consistency as a good human always made sessions very productive and feel like a super safe place.

A wonderful, safe, non-judgemental space to consider my experiences, and future actions, alongside my control over situations.

100% of clients reported they would have counselling with Shelley again and would recommend her to others because she was easy to talk to, she listened to them, and their feelings and problems were understood.
