About me

Whether you are exploring the idea of therapy for the first time or have previous experience I offer a secure space to explore your thoughts and feelings and help you develop the tools and mechanisms to deal with your concerns.

I am a member of the British Psychoanalytic Council, BPC and UKCP, both highly respected national governing bodies.

Our reasons for seeking therapy are sometimes clear and sometimes less so. A feeling that something is not OK is often the beginning. Some people need a few therapy sessions to formulate what's wrong and become articulate about the problem.

Some clearer common stimuli to begin therapy include feelings of depression, anxiety, relationship issues, eating disorders, trauma and grief. Every client is unique and together we will explore the most helpful approaches to deal with each individual’s life challenges.

Training, qualifications & experience

After more than 35 years of practice in London, I am working from my home practice. I offer a supportive and confidential space for clients to explore what brings them to therapy.

At Spitzer Psychotherapy, I draw on a wide range of approaches, adapting the work to suit each individual. Whether you are seeking short-term focused help or longer-term, open-ended therapy, the work is tailored to meet your needs. My training includes in-depth trauma work, also working with eating disorders and self harm, PTSD and therapy that addresses early adverse experiences including those linked to childhood or the impact of boarding school.

Another area of expertise is in A.R.T, Assisted Reproductive Technology. I have worked with patients going through the process of A.R.T as well as complex birth trauma and perinatal depression. I also have clinical experience working with adoption and foster care parent support (Enhanced DBS approved).

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BPC
British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC)

The British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) is a professional association, representing the profession of psychoanalytic psychotherapy.

The organisation is itself made up of fourteen member organisations and BPC accredits the trainings of its member organisations. An individual who qualifies from one of these trainings is then eligible for entry into the BPC's register.

BPC registrants are governed by a code of ethics, a policy of continuing professional development, a statement on confidentiality and a complaints procedure. The BPC is a Member Society of the European Federation for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in the Public Sector (EFPP). Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
