About us

Life can feel overwhelming. You don't have to navigate it alone. At Sea Change Therapies, we offer counselling that's professional, compassionate — and genuinely affordable. We're a not-for-profit organisation built on a simple belief: people, not profit.

Therapy Shouldn't Be Out of Reach - finding the right therapist is an important step - and it matters that you feel safe, supported, and understood.

We know that cost can be a barrier to getting support. That's why we work on a sliding scale, offering low-cost sessions so that financial circumstances don't stand between you and the help you need.

A Safe Space to Explore What Matters - you'll be welcomed into a confidential, compassionate space where you can talk freely and explore what's happening in your life without judgement.

People come to us for all kinds of reasons: anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship struggles, work stress, or simply wanting to understand themselves better.

Whatever brings you here, we'll meet you where you are. No judgment. No pressure. Just a space where you can speak freely and be truly heard.

Our Approach - we practice pluralistic therapy, which means we draw on different therapeutic approaches to match what works best for you. There's no one-size-fits-all, we work collaboratively with you to build safety, choice, and empowerment throughout the counselling process.

Your counsellor will offer warmth, empathy, and professional support at a pace that feels comfortable, in a way that honours your unique experiences.

How We Work:

In person: Our comfortable therapy room at Bass Rock Business Park, St Monans

Online: Via secure video call (Google Meet or WhatsApp)

Your choice: Whatever feels most supportive for you

Rooted in the East Neuk community, we're here to walk alongside you as you navigate life's challenges and create meaningful, lasting change.

Training, qualifications & experience

Sessions will be with a trainee therapist in their second or third year of an MSc in Counselling, working under regular supervision as part of their professional training.

This means that, in addition to learning the theories and techniques of therapy, they are also engaged in significant personal development work - exploring their own experiences, becoming more self-aware, and understanding their own limitations. This depth of reflection helps them to build empathy, maintain clear boundaries, and work effectively to support meaningful change in their clients.

Our counsellors are committed to their professional development and work within and honour the BACP ethical framework.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

We have verified that at least one professional at this organisation is registered with the relevant professional body.
