About me

Hi, I’m Scott. I’m a warm and empathic counsellor who genuinely loves what I do and cares about helping people gain self-awareness and understanding.

Because everyone comes to therapy with a unique story, I believe in tailoring our work completely to you. I work integratively, which means we can adapt our approach to suit your individual needs. If you want to work toward specific goals, that’s great. If you prefer a quiet space to reflect and figure things out slowly, we can absolutely do that too. We can meet in a traditional room, online, by phone or outdoors with a walk by the coast in Tynemouth.

Often, the things we navigate - like anxiety, stress, low mood, or finding our purpose during big life changes - are connected to old habits or beliefs we carry. Together, we can gently unpack those patterns, helping you gain an awareness and understanding at a pace that feels right for you.

My sessions offer an entirely relaxed, pressure-free environment, giving you a safe place to just be yourself and speak openly.

Sessions are 50 minutes - short-term, long-term and open-ended.

If you are considering therapy, I offer a free 20-minute introductory by phone so we can briefly discuss what’s bringing you to counselling and whether working together feels right.

I am a BACP-registered integrative counsellor working in both private practice and agency settings..

Alongside my counselling training, I hold postgraduate qualifications in positive psychology and coaching psychology. This can be particularly helpful for clients navigating identity questions, career transitions, confidence issues, or a desire for greater meaning and direction in life.

Before retraining as a counsellor, I spent many years working in the design and creative industries. My own experience of professional change and identity transition informs my understanding of the pressures people often experience around work, responsibility, achievement, and purpose.

I undertake regular supervision and continuing professional development in line with BACP ethical guidelines.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
