About me

Here you will find a compassionate, accepting, affirming and genuine space where support is available whoever you are, for whatever might be happening and however you may be feeling.

Having worked in mental health and wellbeing services for over 15 years, I have an extensive background in digital wellbeing service provision alongside solid face to face experience with both young people and adults of all ages, cultures and levels of need.

Throughout my experience of service development and leadership, I have maintained a therapeutic practice, holding a particular interest in working with people from marginalised groups, coping with discrimination and oppression and in search of an ‘authentic’ sense of self in the face of social expectations and inequalities.

I don’t believe there is any fixed rule about who can or cannot benefit from therapy; just that you are prepared to do some hard work. This can result in:

  • Forming and maintaining healthy, reciprocal relationships
  • Tolerating and gaining acceptance around how and what we feel
  • Staying in control of our lives, holding positive aspirations and goals

My approach is integrative and creative; bringing together theories and tools which are adaptable towards your specific needs. Perhaps you’re unsure of what those needs are? We can explore this together.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

The reasons for seeking counselling are as varied as the people who come to see me. Be it to help deal with the struggle based in the ‘here and now’ and challenging life circumstances, through to coping with past traumas and painful memories.

Experience and research show that counselling can help people understand themselves, make positive changes and deal differently with challenging situations and feelings.

There is no magic wand or quick fix for how we may be feeling, however, positive solutions can be found when provided with a warm, non-judgmental and trusting environment in which to explore difficult or conflicting feelings.
