About me

“Welcome”………… I understand how it feels to be at a crossroads, to feel helpless, hopeless and unheard. I have myself experienced depression, anxiety, postnatal depression and feelings of despair. For these reasons, and not just for the qualifications I hold as a Counsellor, I believe that I can help you.

Together we can explore the feelings and concerns that are blocking your ability to move forward. This will help you to understand your present and your past, enabling you to lead a more fulfilled and positive life. I studied to become a Counsellor because I wanted to be that “someone” for others, who I, unfortunately never found to listen to me when I needed it most.

I have gained so much from being with my clients. It has been an absolute privilege listening to their unique experiences whilst being part of their journey towards positive change.

The counselling process is all about the quality of the relationship between myself and my client. I am warm, open, caring, compassionate, honest and non-judgemental.

I uphold the standards and ethics required by the National Counselling Society (NCS), and the British Association for Counsellors & Psychotherapists (BACP).

How Counselling Can Help You:

I have been trained from an Integrative perspective, encompassing techniques from CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) which helps you to find different ways of thinking about situations and feelings by changing present patterns of thoughts and behaviour. (Person Centred Therapy), which encourages the client to direct the flow and content of the sessions, being the expert of their life experience. (Psychodynamic and Transactional Analysis), these techniques help to explore past experiences and relationships. I also offer Sand Tray Therapy, which is a unique means of communication and exploration and can be used when it is difficult to say how you are feeling. I also offer the use of emotion stones and other art based therapy.

We will work at a pace that is comfortable for you. You are unique, and therefore our therapeutic relationship will develop to meet your needs.

I welcome people of any age, gender, sexual orientation, culture or religion.  There are no barriers to the potential of our journey together.

What to expect from our first session:

We will have a chat about your expectations of what working with a Counsellor means to you and what you hope to gain from the counselling process. I will be able to let you know what I can offer you during our sessions and how best we can work together to fulfil your needs. Our initial meeting will be at a reduced cost of £20.00 this will enable you to decide whether you feel that I am the person you wish to work with. Hopefully, we will then make plans to meet regularly at an hourly rate of £35.00

I offer a safe place to talk confidentially in my comfortable and relaxed Counselling Room.

I have hourly, weekly appointments between the hours of 8 am and 8 pm every weekday.

There is ample private parking. There is also a regular bus route into the village.

As well as my main Therapy room in Witheridge, I am also able to meet with clients in other rooms in Tiverton, Cullompton and South Molton. The details of which will be given when you make your initial enquiry.
