About me

Experienced in working with Individuals, Couples, Families, Teenagers and Young People

I am passionate and committed to helping you find a more positive way forward

Are you feeling at a crossroads in your life?Do you perhaps feel confused or unheard? Are you feeling helpless or hopeless and cannot see a way clearly through your present thoughts and feelings? These thoughts and feelings can often be overwhelming, making it difficult to see a way forward.

I work with clients who are experiencing a variety of issues and concerns, including:

anxiety, generalised anxiety disorder, social anxiety, stress, sexuality confusion, depression, (work/school/college/university) worries, loss, relationships, bereavement, loneliness, depression, bipolar, post-natal depression, bullying, family communication breakdowns, divorce and separation, menopausal symptoms; brain fog, feelings of inadequacy.

You will not be alone, together we can explore the feelings and concerns that may be blocking your ability to move forward. This will help you to understand your present and your past, enabling you to lead a more fulfilled and happier future.

It has been an absolute privilege being a Counsellor, working alongside my clients and sharing their unique experiences whilst being part of their journey towards positive change.

The counselling process is all about the quality of the relationship between myself and my client. I aim to build your trust by putting you at ease, being warm, open, caring, compassionate, honest and non-judgemental. Our sessions will be confidential.

I have a vast experience of working with people of all ages, genders, diversities and cultures. I have previously worked in the Police Service, Youth Service, & Health Service. Alongside my Private Practice as a Counsellor, I have also volunteered as a Schools Counsellor and have worked as an Educational Mentor and Support Tutor. I am an affiliate counsellor for the EAP, Employment Assistance Programme. I am also a Specialist Mental Health Mentor, supporting university students who have barriers to learning due to their mental health and ADHD/Autism diagnosis.

I uphold the standards and ethics required by The National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS). This shows my commitment as a professional and protects myself and my clients.

How Counselling Can Help You:

I have been trained from an Integrative perspective, encompassing techniques from:

CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) this helps you to find different ways of thinking about situations and feelings by challenging your present negative patterns of thoughts and behaviour and finding new positive ways of thinking.

(Person Centred Therapy), which encourages the client to direct the flow and content of the sessions, being the expert of their own life experience.

(Psychodynamic and Transactional Analysis), these techniques help to explore past experiences and relationships, which may be causing you to feel stuck in your present life, due to negative experiences and learned behaviours from childhood.

I also offer Sand Tray Therapy, which is a unique means of communication and exploration and can be used when it is difficult to say how you are feeling. I also offer the use of worksheets, emotion stones and other art based therapy.

We will work at a pace that is comfortable for you. You are unique, and therefore our therapeutic relationship will develop to meet your needs.

I welcome people of any age, gender, sexual orientation, culture or religion. There are no barriers to the potential of our journey together.

What to expect before your first session:

Once you make contact I will ask you about what is going on for you at the moment, what your expectations of working with a Counsellor are, and what you hope to gain from the counselling process. I will let you know what I can offer you during our sessions and how best we can work together to fulfil your needs and meet your goals. This will enable you to decide if you feel that I am the counsellor you wish to support you.

I will forward you a contract/agreement and will ask you to complete a 'client details' form, and also ask for the details of an emergency contact, in the event that you fall unwell during the sessions.

Take that huge first step by contacting me today, together we can make a difference

I offer a safe space to talk confidentially whilst you remain in the comfort of your own home.

I offer appointments via Zoom, TEAMS, email or chat. This enables us to connect wherever you are based.

I have 50 minute, weekly appointments between the hours of 9am and 7pm every weekday.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
