About me
I am a qualified counsellor, trained in psychotherapy. I offer a warm, open-minded and non-judgemental space for adults to share and explore issues in confidence. My approach is integrative and tailored to the specific needs and circumstances of each client.
My focus is primarily on the person, rather than the problem. This means I work with whatever issues you choose to bring to therapy, to help you improve your relationship with yourself and with others. I value and celebrate diversity in all its forms and warmly welcome people from all backgrounds.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a BSc (Hons) in Psychology, a Postgraduate Certificate in Psychological Counselling, an MA in Social Work, a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Mental Health, and a Diploma in Integrative Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy (Level 7) awarded by Manchester Institute for Psychotherapy.
My professional background is in NHS mental health services. I have 18 years of experience working as a mental health practitioner in both community and hospital settings and have worked with a wide range of severe and enduring mental health issues, supporting people from crisis to recovery.
I began my psychotherapy training in 2019 and have held a private practice since 2022.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and follow their code of ethics. I am currently working towards accreditation with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and towards becoming a Certified Transactional Analyst (CTA).
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
Areas of counselling I deal with
Other areas of counselling I deal with
My focus is first and foremost on you as a person, rather than the problem. So, I work with whatever issues you choose to bring to therapy. My practice is very much tailored to the specific needs of the individual, whether the problems are in relationships, struggles with identity, low or anxious mood, motivation, issues around food, addiction, or feelings of alienation in the world, for example. My focus is on the therapeutic relationship, building a space in which you can feel comfortable to explore whatever issues are important to you.

Additional information
I offer a free initial consultation by phone or video call, lasting 15-30 minutes. This is for anyone considering therapy and wanting to see whether it feels like the right step.
The consultation is an opportunity to get a sense of how I work, ask any questions, and talk through what you’re looking for. There’s no pressure to commit, but it is intended as a meaningful first step in deciding whether ongoing therapy might be right for you.
