About me

Hello and welcome. My name is Sanaze, and I am a TA therapist based in Banchory, offering sessions both online and in person.

I am passionate about working with adults who feel deeply affected by relationships and emotional experiences. You may find yourself overthinking interactions, being sensitive to rejection, struggling with waves of anxiety, carrying within yourself low self-worth, or feeling emotionally overwhelmed in ways that are difficult to explain to others. You may appear capable on the outside while privately carrying a deep sense of loneliness.

Often, these experiences have roots in earlier relationships and attachment wounds. Perhaps you learnt early on in life that you had to work really hard to meet others' needs and feel OK on the inside. Or perhaps you have been putting everyone else's needs first before yours, realising that it never feels enough. Together, we can begin to make sense of your ways of coping, protecting yourself, or staying connected to others.

My approach is relational and grounded in Transactional Analysis (TA). This means I pay attention not only to your story, but also to how you experience yourself in relationships, including within the therapeutic relationship itself. I believe that many emotional wounds happen in relationship, and healing can also happen through being met differently: with deep respect, compassion, consistency, curiosity, and care.

I believe our coping strategies and responses make sense in the context of our emotional history. Therapy can offer a space to understand yourself more deeply, soften shame, reconnect with different parts of yourself, and develop a more compassionate relationship with who you truly are.

Clients often come to me feeling exhausted from carrying everything alone, struggling to trust their own feelings, or longing to feel emotionally safe and understood in relationships.

I have experience supporting adults through anxiety, depression, difficult relationships, emotional neglect, childhood trauma, loss, low self-esteem, and relational difficulties.

Alongside my professional training, I bring a deep respect for the complexity of being human and for the courage it takes to seek support.

If this way of working resonates with you, you are welcome to get in touch for a free initial conversation. I would love to hear from you.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Other areas of counselling I deal with

As a French-speaking counsellor living in the UK, I have a particular interest in supporting fellow French expats who may feel caught between cultures, disconnected from home, or unsure where they truly belong. Therapy can offer a space to explore identity, roots, relationships, and what it means to create a sense of home.
