About me
Counselling Psychologist | Personalised Therapy | Free Initial Consultation
I offer thoughtful psychological therapy tailored to your individual needs, preferences and goals. I aim to create a warm, non-judgemental space where we can develop a clear understanding of what you are experiencing and work collaboratively towards meaningful change. Many clients feel stuck in patterns they understand intellectually but find it difficult to change. Therapy can provide space to understand these patterns, explore what may be maintaining them, and develop more sustainable ways of responding.
How I work: Tailoring therapy to your needs
I don't believe there is a single therapeutic approach that works for everyone. My approach combines psychological understanding, a strong therapeutic relationship, with practical strategies, while regularly reviewing whether therapy is helping you move towards the changes you want.
My experience
I have worked across NHS and specialist psychiatric services, alongside hospital, community, education, charity, and other settings. I have worked with people from diverse cultural, socioeconomic and neurodiverse backgrounds, and with difficulties ranging from everyday life challenges to complex mental health presentations. My broad experience means I bring both clinical depth and a flexible perspective to therapy: I am interested not only in what you are experiencing, but in understanding the wider context of your life and what will make therapy genuinely useful to you.
Work, performance and high-pressure environments
I previously worked in organisational consulting as well as performance coaching. So I have a particular interest in psychological difficulties arising in demanding professional environments. This includes imposter syndrome, confidence, anxiety in high-stakes situations, workplace relationships, perfectionism, burnout and career transitions. I believe psychology can play an important in helping professionals navigate these challenges.
What to expect
We would begin by understanding what has brought you to therapy, what you would like to change, and what might be maintaining your difficulties. From there, we can develop a shared understanding of what is happening and agree how best to work together. I aim for therapy to be collaborative, purposeful and responsive to you, rather than following a fixed programme regardless of your needs.
Training, qualifications & experience
I completed the Doctorate in Counselling Psychology (DPsych).
I am trained to use various approaches including:
- Building practical tools, skills, and resources (CBT, ACT)
- Exploring identity, values, meaning, and what matters to you, as well as loss or difficult experiences (existential and person-centred therapy)
- Understanding how relationship patterns and past difficulties/traumas impact your coping strategies and developing new, healthy ways to be (psychodynamic psychotherapy)
- Mapping how wider family, relationship, and social dynamics influence your mental health (systemic/family therapy)
- Exploring the stories and beliefs that have developed about ourselves and our experiences (narrative therapy)
Cultural and Diversity-informed Practice
I believe it is crucial to understand the social and cultural aspects of the person. This means:
- Thinking together about how your cultural context may have influenced your beliefs, identity, and view of yourself
- Inviting you to bring all parts of your identity and welcoming diversity of gender, sexuality, ethnicity, age, ability, and all other parts of experience
- Appreciating the strengths and meaning that your culture and identities may have given you
- Opening the space to think about tensions, social roles, or difficult experiences of discrimination and how this may impact your mental health.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
