About me

Hi, I'm Sam and I am a qualified, BACP registered counsellor, offering in-person counselling in Farnham. My therapy room is located in central Farnham, which is easily accessible and has ample parking available. Providing a calm, private environment where you can speak openly without interruption. I also offer online therapy for clients across the UK. Providing a warm, confidential space to explore the patterns and emotions shaping your life - helping you heal, grow, and live more fully.

Understanding your past and your present, supporting your future

Life has a way of stirring up feelings, memories, and patterns that can sometimes feel overwhelming or confusing. As a psychodynamic counsellor, I offer a safe and compassionate space where you can explore these experiences in depth, gently uncovering the roots of your struggles and understanding how your past shapes your present.

Whether you are facing anxiety, depression, the effects of trauma, relationship difficulties, grief & loss, or a general sense of being “stuck,” our sessions will be a place for curiosity, honesty, and growth - always at your own pace.

You do not have to face this journey alone. Here, you will be met with empathy, respect, and an open mind.

How I work

My approach is grounded in the belief that lasting change begins with self-awareness. Working with both what's happening for you now, and how past experiences may still be impacting you. Together, we will work to bring unconscious thoughts and feelings into the light, helping you to develop insight, heal old wounds, and create more fulfilling ways of living and relating to others.

Whether we meet face-to-face or online from the comfort of your own home, our work will be tailored to your pace and needs. My aim is to help you not only cope with challenges, but to create meaningful, lasting change - fostering self-understanding, emotional resilience, and healthier relationships. In a safe, non-judgemental space, I offer an environment where you can share openly and feel heard, where we will explore these patterns together, bringing unconscious feelings and thoughts into awareness.

Our work is paced according to your needs, with a deep commitment to helping you understand yourself on a meaningful level - always with respect for your unique journey.

How working with me might help you

Psychodynamic counselling works by helping you understand the underlying causes of anxiety often linked to past experiences, relationships, or long-standing patterns of thought and behaviour. By gently uncovering these deeper layers, you can develop new perspectives, reduce the power of anxious thoughts, and build lasting emotional resilience.

In our sessions, we might explore:

  • How early experiences influence your current feelings and reactions.
  • Unconscious fears or beliefs that fuel anxiety.
  • The connection between relationships and emotional triggers.
  • The lasting impact of trauma, in all of its forms.
  • Practical coping strategies for calming your mind and body.

Meeting face-to-face can provide a sense of presence and grounding that some people find especially valuable. My Surrey location offers a calm, private environment where you can speak openly without interruption.

Meeting online - We’ll meet via a secure, encrypted video platform, ensuring your privacy and confidentiality at all times. You’ll just need a quiet, private space and a stable internet connection. In our sessions, we’ll work in the same way as we would face-to-face - exploring your thoughts, feelings, and experiences in depth, helping you gain insight into patterns and create meaningful change

Making contact

I understand how difficult it can be to reach out for help, that’s why I offer a free initial telephone consultation to so we can start to get to know each other and you can decide if we would work well together.  If this sounds like something that might be helpful for you, email me and we can start this process together.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
