About me

Hi, I’m Sally – I’m an integrative therapist so I use various approaches rather than just one way of working. I am compassionate, creative and specialise in working with ADHD and also PMDD, as someone with lived experience of both.  I also have extensive experience working with men and men's issues.

I can help with depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, low self-esteem, past abuse, grief and bereavement amongst many other mental health and personal issues.

I'm friendly, approachable, and easy to connect with - building a trusting relationship is at the heart of my practice.

If you are facing difficult circumstances, feeling low or anxious, not feeling yourself, or struggling to cope with a situation now or in the past, it can be helpful to talk. When you explore your feelings with someone independent from your own life, it can be the first time you have really been heard and understood. Saying your truth and truly being heard is a powerful thing. It can help you gain strength, and understanding of yourself and relationships in your life – a clarity which can help you identify changes in behaviour and develop new coping skills.

I will compassionately challenge you to grow, inside and outside of sessions. We might use the space for therapeutic talk but also use practical strategies, tools for life improvement, and creative expression – whatever feels right for you. By giving you a safe space to tell your story, I can help you connect past experiences with current issues, helping you understand yourself better and find the clarity you need to move forward.

Testimonial:

'Working with Sally has helped me understand myself and PMDD on a deeper level. Our sessions have helped me discover and implement strategies that have improved my symptoms and life hugely. It took me a long time to commit to the idea of having counselling; not sure it would be the right thing for me, putting off contacting anyone for a whole year. But counselling with Sally has helped me more than anything else I’ve tried to relieve my symptoms, and I wish I’d got in contact with her sooner. Sally really understands what it is like to live with PMDD. It’s so great to work with someone who gets it. I couldn’t recommend Sally highly enough.'

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

I offer a free 20-minute telephone consultation in which we can have a chat about what you're looking for and see if it feels like a good fit.

In your first counselling session you can expect a gentle, warm and client-centred approach.  We will be getting to know each other, I'll be getting some information from you about what brings you to counselling and mainly just listening and providing a safe space for you to share.  This may feel daunting and you might think I don't know where to start - but I can help you begin to unravel everything, don't worry.

Make a space with me, away from the noise, in the safety of the Hush Space.
