About me
Many people at times, come apart and feel unable to cope with situations in their everyday life. Cardiff Counselling service provides a space to explore difficult, stressful and or emotional feelings.
Cardiff Counselling is a confidential counselling service for adults and children. The service provides counselling sessions for the individual privately and through employee HR services.
During the sessions, you are given a safe space to explore your difficulties, behaviour, relationships, coping skills and decision making. Talking about the situations which cause you to feel conflicted in a non-judgmental solution focused way, you will be able to see things more clearly and be able to reach decisions and actions by building on your skills to problem solve and set goals for positive change.
Through the process you will develop your autonomy and resilience to create change in your everyday experiences and in some cases quite quickly.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have been a qualified and practicing counsellor since, I qualified in 2010. Prior to qualifying, my background and training came from a Post Grad in education and training and behaviour modification and behaviour therapy, which I gained experience in while working in a behaviour treatment centre in the States for 6 years.
More recently I have worked part time for a children's mental health charity and part time in my private practice Cardiff Counselling which I set up in 2014, working with children, young people and adults.
Over the years I have worked with children/young people who are struggling with behavioural problems, bereavement, physical and sexual abuse, divorce, disability, ADHD, ADD, Autism, self-harm, drug abuse, gang culture, sexual identity, loneliness and friendship difficulties.
I have worked with adults male and female, who have struggled with depression, anxiety, stress, drug and alcohol misuse, bereavement, sexuality, sexual assault, health issues, breakdowns, redundancy, divorce and separation, loss of themselves, child illness and work related issues.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I work from a person centred approach, integrated with Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, solution focused therapy and therapeutic play.
The first session will always begin with an assessment of the clients needs, to identify the reasons they are coming for counselling, and their current coping strategies to create a plan/goals for change.
Through the counselling sessions the autonomy of the client is key and I am led by the clients needs. Through this process I have seen my clients change and grow throughout the sessions and no longer struggle with anxiety and depression.
