About me
Hi, I’m Ruth and I’m a person-centred counsellor who’s passionate about creating a safe, supportive space where you can simply be yourself.
People often tell me I’m easy to talk to and that they feel at ease with me. That’s really important to me, because I believe that genuine connection and trust are at the heart of good therapy. I won’t judge, analyse, or rush you — instead, I’ll meet you where you are, listen with care, and walk alongside you at your pace.
Whether you're facing something specific, feeling overwhelmed, or just need someone to talk to, I’m here to help you explore things in your own way, in your own time.
I am a degree-qualified compassionate multicultural, person-centred counsellor who prioritises professional competence and is deeply committed to supporting individuals and families through their unique challenges. People come to me for help with a wide range of presenting issues.
I place great value on empathy, authenticity and unconditional positive regard. These values allow me to support you in gaining clarity, building resilience and discovering new perspectives. My role is to create a supportive environment, where your voice is heard, empowering you to grow, heal and create meaningful change.
I believe in the power of creating a safe, empathetic, confidential and non-judgmental space where individuals can explore their emotions and work towards healing and growth.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Counselling (BAhons). I have experience working with a diverse range of individuals, looking for support with a variety of presenting issues.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

I offer face to face and online sessions, lasting 50 minutes. An initial informal telephone chat is available free of charge.
With a holistic view of well-being, I take a client led flexible and adaptive approach to therapy, often offering alternative settings such as walk & talk sessions and engaging activities to foster connection and healing outside the traditional therapy room.
