I believe that people have an innate tendency toward self-actualisation and reaching their full potential. However, this tendency can be distorted or hindered by life experiences that seem to challenge us and our sense of self. Person Centred Therapy, therefore, seeks to create a psychological environment whereby you can feel free from the threat of judgement and able to explore difficult life experiences.
I seek to provide vital support to you throughout this journey providing the relationship with three core conditions; empathy, congruence and unconditional positive regard. I aim to understand your experience from your perspective and encourage personal growth by allowing you to explore your strengths and personal identity.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a Diploma level 4 in Therapeutic Counselling and a level 3 in Positive Behaviour Management.
My experience of counselling has been working with young people (12-25) however I welcome all ages. I have experience in (but am not limited to) counselling people with anxiety, depression, generalised anxiety disorder, bereavement, stress, anger, low self-esteem and struggles with self-identity.
Areas of counselling I deal with
£25 for the initial session - here we would negotiate a contract together, you can ask any questions you might have and we can begin our therapeutic relationship.
£40 for sessions thereafter - it's up to you how many sessions you would like but I do recommend that you allow a final session for endings.
£25 for students studying counselling - as part of many counselling courses a student is asked to complete a compulsory 10 sessions for this reason a reduced rate is offered.
I offer person-centred counselling every Friday afternoon/evening for weekly sessions.
If you do require counselling less often I can offer other days (dependant on the availability of the Osteopathic Clinic where my sessions are facilitated).
