About me
As a psychodynamic therapist, I believe that early experiences continue to affect us throughout adult life. In a safe, confidential, and supportive space, I will help you re-engage with challenging past experiences, growing your ability to process difficult emotions.
I will work sensitively with you to gain a better understanding of your difficulties and help you make changes in your life and relationships. This includes your relationship with yourself. I will support you to examine outdated ways of thinking and feeling that no longer serve you, and perhaps are even causing you harm. In doing this, my aim is to free you from unhelpful messages that you absorbed before you learnt how to say no.
Through a gentle and compassionate process, I will be there with you as you begin to untangle the mass of experiences that have made you who you are. I am deeply interested in why people become depressed or anxious, and how each individual can find a way through these incredibly difficult states. I will support your own agency and intuition as you get to the root of what is causing you difficulties and how to work through them.
Training, qualifications & experience
My core training was a three year psychodynamic counseling PGDiP, including two placements within psychodynamic and trauma-responsive services. I have undertaken further training for working with neurodivergent clients, as well as other courses including self-harm awareness and suicide prevention. I have an extensive track record of working with disabled and chronically ill people.
Although I offer support for a wide range of challenges, I specialise in working with anxiety, relationship issues and self-esteem problems. I also provide therapy for experiences of neglect and abuse. I bring a trauma-informed lens to my practice, using the mind-body connection to foster emotional healing.
I can work with people who have never done any counselling, as well as with those who have tried a few different things already. I work with each one of my clients differently, depending on what they need to feel safe, process, and recover.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
