About me

Hi, I am Rick. I have considerable experience in counselling both as client and as therapist so I understand how difficult it can be to reach out but I will provide a safe, confidential and non judgemental space where together we can explore whatever you choose to bring to the session. I want to reassure you that you and your needs will always be at the heart of each session. If this is what you are looking for, please feel free to arrange an introduction call https://calendly.com/richardwattcounselling/consultation-call-20-mins

I am British army veteran who has extensive life experience, and this allows me to meet each client wherever they are in their life with no judgement.

I have a lot of experience helping clients dealing with:

  • Drugs and alcohol issues
  • Trauma
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Armed forces and emergency service experiences
  • Domestic abuse male and female victims
  • Feeling stuck within your life and wanting to change
  • Workplace bullying & harassment
  • Grief & loss
  • Confidence and assertiveness
  • New Dad's

Are you feeling stuck and repeating behaviours/patterns that no longer serve you or your loved ones? Wanting change but not sure where to start?.

Are you looking for a non-judgmental, supportive space to explore how we can change your current situation to one where life is more manageable, enjoyable and fulfilling.

I provide an integrative approach to helping support and assist clients in overcoming life's many obstacles.

I truly believe that effective therapy looks different for each person. Some are looking for a space to unload, some are looking to gain new skills or approaches, and together we can work out exactly what is needed to help you.

If you are unsure about any aspects of the service I offer and what counselling with me will be like then please feel to reach out and we can arrange an informal 20 minute chat to answer any queries.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
