About me

Working together, I offer a safe and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts and emotions without judgement. Whether you’re experiencing anxiety, stress, relationship difficulties or simply feeling stuck, we will work at your pace to make sense of what you’re going through.

Choosing to begin counselling is a brave step, and finding the right counsellor can feel daunting. I understand how important it is to feel comfortable, understood and genuinely supported.

There is no one‑size‑fits‑all approach to counselling. Everyone’s story is unique, and everyone faces their own challenges. I offer a space where you can express yourself freely and explore what is important for you. My role is to listen, understand and support with kindness, compassion and empathy.

Some people come to counselling with a clear goal, others simply know they need support, and many are unsure what they hope to achieve and all of this is okay. I place great importance on building a strong therapeutic relationship based on trust, openness and collaboration. Whatever change looks like for you, we will work together to achieve it.

As a registered member of the BACP, I work within their Ethical Framework and remain committed to practising safely, ethically and within my areas of competence. Your wellbeing is always at the centre of my work.

Feedback from one of my clients

"Seeking counselling was an extremely daunting thing for me at first. After meeting Richard I was instantly put at ease and he has helped me massively in working through my anxiety and helping me to see the light at the end of the tunnel. His knowledge and guidance has equipped me with tools that I will use for life and could not recommend him more"

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
